Foundation Wall Repair in Medford, MA Foundation Wall Repair in Medford, MA

A homeowner in Medford, Massachusetts noticed their foundation wall was severely bowing inwards with multiple cracks after removing drywall. This raised big concern that the wall would collapse. In search of safety and peace of mind, they reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.

Our Design Specialist, Kenneth Calabrese, recommended installing an auxiliary foundation wall to stabilize the foundation. Our installation crew started the job by demoing the necessary area of drywall in order to access the foundation wall. PowerBraces were then installed, which consist of steel I-beams that are secured to the joists above the wall with steel brackets. A SmartJack was also installed to support the floor joist system. Concrete was then poured to create the auxiliary wall.

After the concrete dried, the crew looked over the work, cleaned up the space, and performed a final walkthrough with the homeowner. The wall is now stabilized and can be added on in the future if the homeowner so chooses to finish the basement.

Job Stories From Medford, MA
Waterproofing in Preparation of Creating a Finished Basement in Medford, MA

When a concerned homeowner in Medford, MA, reached out to us about their relentless battle against water seeping through their basement's foundation, creating an unwelcoming, moldy environment, we knew just the intervention needed. They had a vision of transforming this damp, underused space into a beautifully finished basement, but first, we had to address the waterproofing woes that had plagued their home.

Upon establishing the first point of contact, our dedicated Customer Care team set the wheels in motion, scheduling a detailed home inspection. Seasoned System Design Specialist Scott Ruisi from our Sales Team visited the home to examine the unfortunate reality of water damage. He identified the areas requiring attention and walked the homeowner through a tailor-made solution featuring our state-of-the-art product line: WaterGuard for perimeter drainage, our robust TripleSafe Sump Pump system to efficiently eject captured water, IceGuard to prevent discharge line freeze-ups during the cold seasons, and CleanSpace vapor barrier to fend off any remaining moisture or mold concerns. With the game plan set, our skilled Production Team took to the task with precision and care. The install involved meticulously laying out the WaterGuard drainage channel at the foundation perimeter, ensuring it was perfectly poised to intercept any incoming moisture. The TripleSafe Sump Pump was then installed, a behemoth in disguise, ready to leap into action at the slightest hint of water. Winter fears were put to rest with the addition of IceGuard on the exterior discharge line, and the once vulnerable walls were shielded with our CleanSpace liner, creating a barrier against moisture and mold growth.

Upon completion, the transformation was nothing short of remarkable. Our crew, with their unwavering dedication to cleanliness and respect for the home, ensured every speck of debris was cleared before completing a final walkthrough with the homeowner. Before heading out, the homeowner expressed how ecstatic he was for his new waterproofing system.

Waterproofing a Finished Basement in Medford, MA

At Erickson Foundation Solutions, one of our recent projects involved a particular homeowner from Medford, MA, who was in a bit of a hurry to get their basement ready for a very special arrival - their first child. The family wanted to transform their basement into a functional, welcoming space but were faced with a concerning issue: the basement was prone to dampness and mildew, hardly the environment they dreamed of for their expanding family.

Understanding the urgency and significance of the task, our customer care team quickly arranged for a home inspection. Our System Design Specialist, after a detailed inspection, diagnosed the real problem behind the damp basement — inadequate waterproofing and an unreliable sump pump system unable to cope with the challenges posed by their property's location. Our recommended solution came in a combination of high-quality, dependable products: the WaterGuard drainage system, the TripleSafe Sump Pump, and the IceGuard system. The WaterGuard was designed to effectively intercept water at the perimeter of the basement, channeling it away before it could cause any trouble. The TripleSafe Sump Pump took the reassurance a step further, offering three levels of protection to ensure the basement stays dry come rain or shine. Finally, the IceGuard system was the cherry on top, providing a safeguard against potential freezing and clogging of the outdoor discharge lines during the notoriously harsh Massachusetts winters. Our installation was a streamlined process, focusing first on excavating along the interior perimeter for the WaterGuard, setting up the TripleSafe Sump Pump with its backup battery system, and ensuring the IceGuard was fitted flawlessly on the outside.

We completed the job with thorough clean-up, leaving behind nothing but a perfectly dry, ready-to-be-utilized basement.

Outdated lally columns that were failing to stabilize the floors, putting the home's structure at risk.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, our Customer Care team quickly lined up a home inspection. Our SmartJacks are designed for precisely this type of repair, capable of supporting and stabilizing sagging floors and foundations to prevent further damage. The project wasn't without its challenges, including negotiations around pipe obstructions which required a minor floor lift. Yet, our installation team, equipped with both the expertise and the state-of-the-art SmartJacks system, worked diligently to ensure the home was treated with the utmost care.

Fearing the potential for damage to their home's foundation and the havoc moisture could cause, they reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions for help.

Our initial step was to send System Design Specialist, Debra Rayborn, to conduct a thorough inspection of the area. It was immediately evident that foundation seepage was the culprit behind the persistent puddling. We recommended a multi-product solution to ensure a dry and safe basement and garage space for years to come. We installed our proven WaterGuard system, a perimeter drainage system designed to catch wall seepage and ground water. A top-of-the-line TripleSafe Sump Pump system, which automatically adjusts to changing water volumes, was put in place to eject the collected water swiftly. To further protect the spaces from moisture, our team installed the CleanSpace moisture barrier on the walls, effectively sealing off any seep then, IceGuard was placed outdoors to prevent any potential blockage or overflow caused by freezing.

This completed network ensured that future storms wouldn't mean water damage or disrupted days for the homeowners. Once we were done, the dreaded puddles were a thing of the past. Not only was the base of the home secure from moisture, but the homeowners could reclaim and enjoy their spaces without the looming threat of water damage. The shift in the home’s foundation had rendered the previous support columns ineffective, very much like a wobbly table standing on uneven legs. This is where SmartJacks come into the picture. Unlike the original failing support columns, SmartJacks provide a solid and adjustable steel solution specifically designed for lift and stabilization, a task they perform commendably well. Our journey to resolution began with the appointment set up by our Customer Care team leading to an extensive home inspection performed by one of our experienced System Design Specialists. Sump Pump and Dehumidifier Installation in Medford, MA

Matt. D of Medford, Massachusetts noticed over the past year that he had a very damp basement. Looking for peace of mind, he called Erickson Foundation Solutions to control the dampness and mold in order to create a healthy storage space.

Our Design Specialist, Scott Ruisi, recommended installing our TripleSafe sump pump system and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. Our installation crew chipped out concrete at the lowest point of the basement in order to create a basin for the sump pump to rest in. This basin collects water from outside of the foundation and allows the sump pump to pump it out of the home through an exterior discharge line. On that exterior discharge line, IceGuard is installed to prevent pipes from freezing. If pipes were to freeze, water could get backed up and flood the basement. Lastly, the SaiDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. This eliminates moisture in the basement, creating a dry and temperate basement. The SaniDry Sedona also removes mold spores in the air, creating healthier air for the entire home.

These systems create a welcoming and dry basement. Matt now has peace of mind that his personal belongings are protected.

Homeowners Were Concerned About Radon, Medford, MA

A homeowner in Medford, Massachusetts, recently purchased their home in October 2022. They had a home inspector do a pre-purchase inspection. The inspector recommended testing their home for radon. The homeowners decided to call a local company that installs radon mitigation systems into homes. The company that the homeowners reached out to was Erickson Foundation Solutions. Our Design Specialist Josh dropped a CRM test kit off at the home 48 hours before his appointment with the homeowners. On the day of the appointment, Josh arrived at the home and started his inspection. Josh first reviewed the CRM test results, the results came back at 2.4 pCi/L which isn't above the threshold of being harmful. The homeowners still would like to bring that number down to as close to zero as possible. Josh, designed a radon mitigation system specifically for their home.

Our production team began by chipping a small hole in the slab in the basement. This hole will be the extraction point for the radon mitigation system. The team then attached a PVC pipe to the extraction point and began connecting PVC piping. The team used several feet of PVC piping until navigating the piping to the exterior of the home. Once outside, the team installed the Radon Fan to the side of the home and connected the PVC pipe to the fan. After the team vented the system above the roofline of the home.

The homeowner was happy that they don't have to worry about the radon levels in their home.

The homeowner then reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions to have us come look at their concrete problems. Our design specialist recommended installing PolyLevel to level the slab and repair the garage apron.

The team had drilled the portholes in a grid pattern around the garage slab. Then the team started injecting PolyLevel into each porthole to slowly lift and level the garage slab. After the slab was lifted the team moved on to repairing the garage apron. The team chipped out the apron of the garage and poured a new apron at the front of the garage.
