A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire was experiencing high humidity in the house, specifically in the basement. This has led to wooden items deteriorating and minimal mold, which has created a musty odor. Looking to turn the basement into a playroom for the kids, this homeowner reached out to us for a permanent solution.

Our Design Specialist, Josh Phillips, recommended installing SilverGlo wall insulation, CleanSpace vapor barrier, and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SilverGlo was installed to the crawl space to provide R-11 insulation. CleanSpace was installed to prevent moisture in the crawl space. By eliminating moisture from the crawl space, the threat of high humidity, wood rot, and insects vanishes. Lastly, the SaniDry Sedona was installed in the basement to create a comfortable living space. Mold spores and other toxins are removed, creating a dry and healthy environment.

With these systems in place, the homeowner can confidently transform the basement into a playroom with peace of mind that it will remain dry and temperate.

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Job Stories From Hollis, NH
Water Entering Crawl Space Causing Mold and Wood Rot in Hollis, NH

Recently, we at Erickson Foundation Solutions had the opportunity to transform a crawl space in Hollis, NH, that was becoming more of a headache for the homeowner than a functional part of their house. They were dealing with a rather unpleasant situation where water leakage into their crawl space was leading to wood rot and mold, a clear threat to both the structure of their home and their health. Understandably worried, the homeowner reached out to us looking for a durable solution.

Following our established process, our Customer Care Team promptly scheduled a home inspection to assess the severity of the problem. Our expert System Design Specialist, Bryan Barnard, visited the residence to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the crawl space. It didn't take long to verify the extent of the water intrusion and its damage. Based on these findings, we recommended the installation of our CleanSpace product, a reliable and efficient remedy for their crawl space woes. CleanSpace is not just any covering; it's a heavy, durable plastic liner that envelops the entire crawl space, effectively isolating the home from the earth. This creates a barrier that moisture cannot penetrate, preventing future cases of wood rot and mold growth. Our skilled production team carried out the CleanSpace installation with precision, ensuring every inch of the space was covered and sealed properly. They made sure to cause minimum disruption while working and cleaned up after completing the installation, leaving the home safer and the homeowner relieved.

The transformation was remarkable. No more water trapped in the crawl space meant no more worrying about structural damage or health risks from mold. The homeowner was not only relieved but thrilled with their newly secured and dry crawl space, all thanks to a sustainable solution provided by our team.

Replacing Wooden Supports in Basement, Hollis, NH

A new homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire, recently noticed that the wooden supports in the basement of their block foundation home were old and rotting. They contacted EFS for a free inspection, and our Design Specialist, Isaac Hernandez, examined the supports. Isaac found that the wooden supports had deteriorated due to exposure to water and recommended that they be replaced with our galvanized steel SmartJacks. Although Isaac also recommended a waterproofing system, the homeowners opted to wait on that.

Our installation team, led by Neal Foley, began by setting up temporary posts between the wood supports to provide support for the floor system while the old supports were removed. Once the old supports were removed, we chipped out concrete to install our big plate footings beneath the concrete slab. After the three footings were installed, we put in the supports and connected the adjustable top to the beam using screws. The SmartJacks were installed, and we finished by mixing concrete and covering the big footings to lock the supports in place.

After cleaning up the job site, we did a walkthrough with the homeowners and showed them the SmartJacks and some of their features, including the adjustable top that can lift the floor to make it level. The homeowners were very pleased with the installation of the system.

Preventing Water from Entering the Basement, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire had been experiencing water intrusion in their basement since they moved in back in 2017. Despite their construction background, their DIY attempts to solve the issue had been unsuccessful. The homeowner was tired of having to vacuum the water out of the basement and wanted to finish it once the water issue was resolved. As a result, they contacted EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist, John Prince, inspected the basement and determined the source of the water intrusion. He recommended installing a full perimeter drainage system with radon-neutral perimeter drainage to prevent radon seepage.

Our installation team, led by Anthony LoCascio, began by removing over 100 feet of concrete around the perimeter of the basement. This allowed us to install the perimeter drainage and TripleSafe sump pump. We installed the sump pump basin to eject water out of the basement while we worked. We then installed the Radon Neutral WaterGuard and Trench Lock around the perimeter of the basement and added 58 feet of CleanSpace wall to protect that section from water seepage. The team finished by installing the exterior drainage system to carry the water away from the foundation of the home. They also installed 10 feet of buried exterior drainage and attached it to IceGuard to prevent exterior drainage backup into the basement. Lastly, the team covered the perimeter drainage with concrete to lock the system in place.

The homeowner was extremely pleased with the installation of the new system. Since installation, the homeowner has not seen any water in the basement. They can now begin the process of finishing the basement.

Replacing Foundation Wall With Masonry Wall, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire bought their parent's home 10 years ago. The house was built in 1963, and the foundation wall of the garage had bowed, causing concern for the homeowner. They spoke to another company that suggested pouring a new wall, but the homeowner was not interested in that solution. Instead, they contacted EFS for a free inspection of the garage foundation. Our Design Specialist met with the homeowner, and after inspecting the entire garage structure, recommended replacing the existing foundation wall with a Masonry Block Wall Foundation. The homeowner chose our company due to our experience in the industry and our superior solution.

Our Installation Team, led by Nick Carelli, began by setting up temporary supports and removing the existing foundation wall. After the wall was removed, the team poured a new footing and let the concrete cure. Once the curing process was complete, we began to lay the blocks for the new foundation wall. When the team reached the framing of the garage, they put on the finishing touches and installed waterproofing on the outside of the wall to prevent water from seeping through the foundation. After the waterproofing was installed, we started to backfill and tamp the soil back to its original position.

The homeowners were delighted with the results of the project and how the team left their home better than they found it.

Water Entering Basement Through Bulkhead and Foundation Wall, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire, had finished building their home last year. Since they've been living in the home they have seen water entering the basement. The water seems to be coming from their bulkhead and a small crack in the foundation wall. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Kenny examined the entire basement and recommended installing crack injection to seal the crack on the foundation wall and installing TrenchLock to the door at the bottom of the bulkhead to collect any water that enters.

Our Installation Team began by injecting 4' of Crack Injection into the crack on the foundation wall. After the crack was sealed, the team installed a Crack Monitor to keep track if the crack continues to move or not. Next, the team then installed a 5' section of TrenchLock to the bottom of the bulkhead entrance.

The homeowner was very happy with the results of the project. Since the project, they haven't seen any water enter the basement of their new home.

High Radon Levels in Home, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire, has lived in the home for the past 18 years. They recently tested their home for radon and the results came back around 7 pCi/L. The homeowner wanted to find a reputable company to install a radon mitigation system in their home. They reached out to EFS and our Design Specialist designed a radon system that would be in their home. Because of the size of the home the Design Specialist recommended installing a second extraction point.

Our Installation Team began by creating the two extraction points on opposite sides of the basement. The team used a core drill to make a circular hole in the slab so the team could fit a PVC pipe to each extraction point. The team then connected the two extraction points with PVC and fed them to the exterior of the home where we installed a fan to the side of the home. We then connected the PVC pipe and the fan and then vented the entire system above the roofline of the home.

After the system was fully installed, the team then tested the home again for radon. The results of the test were well under our goal of 4.0 pCi/L. The homeowner was very pleased with the results of the installation of the radon system.

Concerns with Crack on Garage Floor, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire, had lived in their home for the past two years. When they moved in they noticed the cracks in the garage slab. Since then the problem has only gotten worse. They want to have the concrete leveled and the cracks sealed. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist James inspected the home and recommended using PolyLevel to level the concrete and seal the cracks with NexusPro.

Our installation team began by having everything removed from the garage. Then the team will drill small holes in the concrete so we can inject PolyLevel underneath the garage slab. The team drills the 1/4" holes in a grid pattern around the garage so we could lift the garage in sections. Once all of the port holes were drilled through the slab, the team then started up the PolyLevel rig and began injecting PolyLevel foam into each of the port holes. The team injected PolyLevel into each hole until the PolyLevel Technician felt the concrete start moving upward. They used a level to check that the entire slab was level. After the team finished will the PolyLevel, they moved on to seal all of the cracks in the garage using 100' of NexusPro. Once the team sealed all of the cracks and ports were sealed the team then did a walkthrough with the customer to show them the work.

The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project.

Floor Support Issues, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire was beginning the process of installing an inground pool in their backyard. During the backyard excavation, they removed a set of stairs against the foundation wall. Behind that set of stairs brought up potential concerns about the foundation wall. To ensure the foundation wall was secured, they called EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Victor inspected the foundation of the home to reveal nothing of major concern, but when the homeowners were in the basement with Victor they mentioned they noticed a musty smell in the basement and they felt that the first floors have a bounce to them. Victor furthermore inspected the basement and found that the supports in the basement were a mix of old wooden and temporary supports. Victor recommended installing 12 SmartJacks to replace the old supports and a SaniDry dehumidifier to eliminate the musty smell in the basement.

Our production team began by installing a SaniDry into the basement of the home to control the humidity in the basement. After the dehumidifier was set up the team began setting up our temporary posts around the basement so we could remove the old supports. The team, abiding by the drawing done by Victor, marked where each of the 12 SmartJacks will be installed. To install the SmartJacks, the team first had to excavate some dirt from the dirt floor so they can create a strong footing for each SmartJacks. After they removed some dirt the team mixed and poured concrete into each of the holes they made. Once the concrete had been set, the team then placed the SmartJack footings over each concrete footing. The team made sure that each of the footings that we installed would have to be level before installing the rest of the SmartJack. After all of the footings were installed and leveled, the team then installed the support and the adjustable bracket to the main beam of the home. Once all of the supports and brackets were installed they used the adjustable bracket to make sure the floors were leveled above.

The homeowner was very pleased with the results of the project.

Watering Entering Basement, Hollis, NH

A homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire, had water entering their basement and causing damage to the floors and belongings. Water appears in the basement during periods of thaw/ melt, and or heavy rains. The homeowner has seen up to 4" of water in their basement at one time. Our design specialist Tom recommended installing a perimeter drainage system in their basement.

Our waterproofing team began by chipping out concrete at the base of the basement wall. The team chipped out a 6" wide trench around the entire perimeter of the basement. This trench will hold our WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. Any water from the wall or the ground will be collected by this channel and directed to a sump pump. As the team was chipping out the concrete for the WaterGuard the team also chipped out the basin for the sump pump. After the team was finished chipping all of the concrete they began laying the WaterGuard into the channel. The team connected each section of WaterGuard with a strong adhesive and made sure to pitch the WaterGuard so the water can run downhill toward the sump pump. The team installed the TripleSafe Sump and connected it to the WaterGuard. Once the WaterGuard and TripleSafe are connected the team began mixing concrete to cover the perimeter drainage and around the sump pump. When the concrete was curing the team used a coring drill to make a hole in the wall to allow the drainage pipe to push water outside. Attached to the drainage pipe on the exterior of the home, the team installed an IceGuard to prevent water from backing up into the basement. The team dug a trench for the drainage line. The trench was dug out into the yard to prevent water from re-entering the home.

The team completed installing the perimeter drainage system in the basement. The homeowner doesn't have to worry about water collecting in their basement anymore.

The radon team installed the radon mitigation system into the home and reduced the radon levels to below 4 pCi/L.

Water Entering Basement is Causing the Basement to Smell, Hollis, NH

This homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire had purchased their 1830s home a couple of months ago. During the home inspection, they noticed an odor in the basement. More recently they found out that the odor in the basement is because of water entering the basement. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

Design Specialist Michael LaMalfa inspected the home. During his inspection, he found that the mortar in this almost 200-year-old basement is deteriorating. Water is coming through the holes where the mortar has deteriorated and causing water to collect in the basement. Michael recommended installing an Auxilary wall, Water Guard, Super Sumps, and Sani Dry.

Crew Lead Nick Carelli and his team arrived at the home and installed an Auxilary wall, 109 ft of Water Guard, 2 Super Sumps, and a Sani Dry into the basement.

Homeowner Needed Perimeter Drain Redone, Hollis, NH

This homeowner in Hollis, New Hampshire previously had Northeast Basement Systems install a perimeter drainage system installed in their basement in 2000. Over 20 years later one part of the perimeter drain doesn't drain water properly anymore. They decided to call EFS to fix their perimeter drainage system.

Design Specialist Isaac Hernadez inspected the Perimeter Drain in the basement. Isaac confirmed that one part of the perimeter drain wasn't working properly. Isaac recommended installing a new Water Guard system to the perimeter of the basement. Isaac also suggested having a new sump pump installed.

Crew Lead Nick Melo and his team arrived at the home and installed 55 ft of Water Guard and a new sump pump.

Crack in Foundation Letting Water into Basement, Hollis, NH

Alexander C. of Hollis, New Hampshire was experiencing water entering his basement through two cracks in his foundation. After a big rainstorm, he reached out to EFS to see if they could come out and seal the cracks. Design Specialist Paul Magowan came to the home and inspected the cracks that were in question. He proposed a long lasting crack seal and then use a crack monitor on the bigger crack. The Crack Monitor will allow the homeowner to see if the crack is getting worse or remaining the same.

Crew Lead Branden Edwards and his crew came to the home and sealed both the wall cracks and installed a Crack Monitor on the crack near the stairs. Both cracks were sealed successfully and won't allow water to enter anymore.

Radon Mitigation & Sump Pump, Hollis, NH

Wendy R. of Hollis, NH had concerns with high radon levels in the home she had recently purchased. After testing, levels were at 5.6 pCi/l in the basement. She chose Erickson Foundation Supportworks as her contractor to install a radon mitigation system in order to lower these levels.

When crew foreman, Nick Carelli, began installation of the system in the basement, he had to drill a 5" hole through the concrete slab. Upon breaking through the slab, he found the water table was very high under the home. He suggested to the new homeowners that if they wanted to fully protect their investment, they should consider installing a water sump pump system. Rather than wait for the water to rise and have a concern with cleanup and possible damage, Wendy decided to be proactive and have the sump pump system in place in order to protect her home.

The entire installation for both systems was quick, clean and precise, and Wendy now has peace of mind with her new home. Her radon problem was solved, and the home is also now protected against any future rising water tables.
