Sunken and cracked concrete around your home is not only an eyesore but is also a safety hazard. As time goes by, if the problem isn’t corrected, it will only get worse. However, you have no reason to fret when you have the professionals at Erickson Foundation Solutions doing the work. Crawl space repair contractor in Sandown, NH

The crawl space is often an underappreciated part of the home that often gets issues with mold. Since it is more often an out of sight out of mind, when problems occur with your crawl space it can easily have wide-ranging effects on the entire home. Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Our radon mitigation system is completely compatible with the current waterproofing system in your home. Get in contact with us now to learn how to protect your loved ones from the harmful effects of radon gas.

Job Stories From Sandown, NH
Make Basement Space Usable, Sandown, NH

A year ago, a homeowner in Sandown, New Hampshire bought a house. However, during the previous winter, they noticed water entering their basement sporadically. This made them hesitant about using the space for storage or any other purpose. To find a solution, the homeowner contacted EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist, Anthony Brancato, met with the homeowners and examined the basement. After inspecting the area, Anthony recommended installing WaterGuard, TrenchDrain, TripleSafe, IceGuard, Exterior Discharge Line, and a SmartJack into the basement to make it a usable space for the homeowners.

Our installation team, led by Anthony LoCascio, started by chipping out the concrete around the basement's perimeter to create a footing for our SmartJack and sump pump. The team used jackhammers to break up the concrete into small, removable chunks. After removing the concrete, the team installed the perimeter drainage and sump pump. Once installed, the team plumbed the sump pump to the exterior of the home where they installed two IceGuards and a 20-foot Exterior Discharge Line. The discharge line would carry water away from the foundation so that water cannot re-enter the basement.

After plumbing the pump to the home's exterior, the team then started installing the SmartJack in the basement. They removed dirt to create a footing for the SmartJack to rest on. The footing consisted of engineered fill, rebar, and concrete. Once the footing cured, the team installed our galvanized steel footing on top of the concrete footing and installed our SmartJacks to the beam above. Once secured, our team used the adjustable top bracket of the SmartJack to lift the floor system and stabilize it.

The team then mixed up concrete and covered the footing of the SmartJacks and perimeter drainage, filling concrete around the sump pump basin. The team waited for the concrete to cure so that everything would be locked into place.

Now, the homeowner can use the basement as a storage space without worrying about water entering the basement and damaging their belongings.

Radon and Moisture Concerns in Basement, Sandown, NH

This homeowner in Sandown, New Hampshire, has lived in their home since the late 80's. After living in the home for over 35 years they have become concerned with the possibility of having radon gas in their home. They also want to control the amount of water and moisture in their basement so they reached out to EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist John Prince met with the home and inspected the home. John looked at the results of a radon test that he had dropped off a few days prior to find out how high the radon levels were in the home. The radon test came back with results at 5.8 pCi/L which was above the recommended amount. John recommended installing a radon mitigation system, TripleSafe, and SaniDry Sedona so the homeowner could control the radon levels, water, and moisture in the basement.

Our Installation Team led by Kyle DeChane began by installing the radon system into the home. We started by creating an extraction point in the slab in the basement. Then we used PVC pipe to connect the extraction point to the radon fan that will be installed on the exterior of the home. Once the team installed the fan and connected the PVC pipe we then vent the entire system above the roofline of the home where radon can be drawn from below the home and sent out into the open air where it can dissipate. After the radon system was installed the team then began installing the TripleSafe in the basement next to the entrance from the bulkhead. The team first chipped out concrete so we could install our sump pump basin. Once the basin was fit flush with the slab the team then began plumbing the system outside the home. On the outside of the home, we first installed our IceGuard and then our Exterior Drainage Line which will extend a minimum of 10' from the foundation of the home. After the system was fully plumbed, we returned back into the basement to mix up some concrete and pour it around the basin of the sump pump to lock it into place. While the concrete was curing the team then set up our SaniDry Sedona next to the TripleSafe and guided the discharge line into the basin of the sump pump.

The homeowner was very happy with the results of the project. They no longer have to worry about radon, water, or moisture in the basement.

Older Home Had Water Constantly Entering Basement, Sandown, NH

A Sandown, New Hampshire homeowner who owns a house built in the 1940s has been experiencing basement flooding every time it rains since purchasing the property in 2019. Despite having plans to finish the basement upon their daughter's departure, they decided to address the flooding issue first. They contacted EFS for a free home inspection, during which our Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, met with the homeowners to examine the property and determine the source of the water penetration. Following the inspection, Jason recommended installing a TripleSafe to replace the old sump, WaterGuard spanning 74 feet around the basement perimeter to collect water from the floor, walls, or beneath the slab, IceGuard, and an Exterior Drainage System to divert water away from the foundation.

Our Installation Team, led by Branden Edwards, began by chipping away at the concrete surrounding the basement perimeter to install the WaterGuard and the new and larger TripleSafe. The systems were installed flush with the concrete to avoid any tripping hazards. Once the sump and perimeter drainage was installed, the team connected the sump pump to the exterior of the home and added the IceGuard and Exterior Drainage Line to carry water pumped through the TripleSafe away from the foundation and prevent it from re-entering the basement. After the drainage line was buried, the team mixed concrete to cover the WaterGuard and the TripleSafe, securing them in place.

The homeowner was highly satisfied with the new system, as it resolves the issue of water penetration into the basement. They can now move forward with finishing their basement and adding extra usable space to their home.

Radon Test Reveals High Levels, Sandown, NH

A homeowner in Sandown, New Hampshire, recently tested their home for radon after living there for 20 years. The test results showed the levels averaging around 8 pCi/L, while the high and low were at 11 and 3. The homeowner wanted to have a radon mitigation system installed in their home to bring the levels consistently under 4.0 pCi/L. The homeowner decided to call EFS for them to design a radon system for their home. Our Design Specialist Kenny inspected the home and designed a radon mitigation system for their home.

Our installation team began by creating an extraction point in the basement slab and then securing a PVC pipe to the extraction point. The team then fed the PVC pipe to the exterior of the home where they connect the PVC pipe to the radon fan that was installed on the side of the home. Once the extraction point was linked to the radon fan the team then vented the system above the roofline to ensure the radon gas cannot re-enter the home.

The homeowners were very happy when they re-tested their home and the radon levels were consistently below 4.0 pCi/L.
