Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Our radon mitigation system is completely compatible with the current waterproofing system in your home. Job Stories From Rye, NH
Basement Waterproofing for Snowbirds in Rye, NH

At Erickson Foundation Solutions, we recently had the opportunity to assist a homeowner in Rye, NH, who faced a recurring issue with their basement: persistent leaks, an especially concerning problem considering they lived there only part of the year. The damp basement issue was troubling, as continuous leaks can lead to larger, more expensive problems down the road, such as mold or structural damage – not something you want to worry about when you're away.

The homeowner reached out to our Customer Care team, seeking a reliable and lasting solution. Following company protocol, we arranged a home inspection where our System Design Specialist Jason Vachon completed an in-depth assessment. Jason proposed a comprehensive plan including the installation of the WaterGuard system to channel water effectively, an UltraSump pump system guaranteeing effective water extraction, an IceGuard system to keep things moving even in freezing temperatures, and the SaniDry Sedona to ensure the air remains dry and comfortable. Our dedicated production team then took over, installing the high-quality solutions with minimal disruption. Throughout the process, our aim was not just to solve the immediate water problem but also to prevent future issues, giving our homeowner peace of mind all year round.

The outcome? Success! The homeowner’s basement transformed from a damp and worrying space into a dry and safe area. No more leak stress. This project underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional help and support to homeowners, combining personal attention with technical expertise.

Wet Crawl Space Repair in Rye, NH

Recently, a homeowner in Rye, NH, reached out to us with a troublesome problem. Their crawl space was frequently wet, causing not just an unpleasant musty odor to seep into their home but also posing a severe risk to the structure itself. To make matters worse, the wooden support posts, now weakened and decaying from the moisture, heightened their concern for the home's stability and its overall wellbeing.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, our dedicated Customer Care team swiftly scheduled a home inspection. Upon visiting, our expert System Design Specialist Josh Bartholomew discovered the core issues at hand. Recognizing the need for immediate action, we recommended installing our SmartJack support system alongside the CleanSpace vapor barrier. These cutting-edge solutions were designed to, respectively, address the structural support needs and seal off the area from future moisture intrusion. Anticipation turned to action as our experienced production team, led by seasoned foreman Ed Nadreau, arrived onsite. The team began by stabilizing the existing structure with SmartJack posts, an essential step in reviving the foundation's integrity and support. Following this, we rolled out the CleanSpace vapor barrier, meticulously covering the crawl space's surface. This robust liner acts as a defensive shield, keeping moisture, pests, and mold at bay, effectively securing the home's underpinning from further decay. But we didn't stop there. To circumvent future moisture problems and ensure the crawl space remains dry, we installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump system, renowned for its reliability in water evacuation.

Upon completion, the transformation was palpable. The crawl space was now a dry, stable part of the home, no longer a hidden concern but a testament to enduring solutions.

Replacing a Broken Sump Pump System in Rye, NH

When one homeowner in Rye, NH, found themselves facing a wet basement nightmare due to a broken sump pump, they knew it was time to call in the pros – they reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions. Understanding how stressful and inconvenient a flooded basement can be, we were on a mission to offer not just a solution but peace of mind.

Our tried-and-true process kicked off with an initial contact to our Customer Care team, who promptly scheduled a home inspection. The System Design Specialist, Victor Tapia, from our sales team was then dispatched to diagnose the problem firsthand. After a thorough evaluation, it was clear the best course of action would be to replace the inadequate sump pump, rethink the home’s water drainage path, and ensure this headache wouldn’t recur, even in the harshest of New Hampshire winters. We rolled out a solution incorporating our WaterGuard drainage system to catch wall and floor seepage before it reaches the basement floor, then installed a new TripleSafe Sump Pump system designed to tackle high water volume efficiently and an IceGuard system at the discharge line to prevent frozen blockages – a common concern in our chilly neck of the woods.

By the time our installation team wrapped up, dusted off, and cleared the site, the homeowner was left with a robust, fully integrated waterproofing system. No more crossing fingers when the forecast hints at a downpour. Floor Support Replacement, Rye, NH

A homeowner in Rye, New Hampshire, lives in a home that was built over 100 years ago. They purchased the home 55 years ago and need to start repairing the house in phases to keep it in good condition to leave to their children. The first phase they wanted to start with was to replace the supports in the basement to strengthen the floor system. The homeowners called EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist met with the homeowners and examined the basement and the supports and recommended replacing the wooden supports with galvanized steel supports.

Our installation team began by removing the old wooden supports. Then we created footings for our supports and installed our SmartJacks under the main beam in the home. After the new supports were in place we used the adjustable top to lift and level the floor system. Once the system was installed we then poured concrete over the footings to lock each support into place.

The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project and can now move on to another phase of the project.

Concerns With Radon, Rye, NH

A homeowner was in the process of purchasing their home in Rye, New Hampshire. They had put an offer on the home but wanted to check the radon levels inside before they purchased it. They tested the basement and confirmed their suspicion. The radon levels were higher than they would have liked. They ended up purchasing the home and then had Erickson Foundation Solutions come out to design a radon system for their new home. Our Design Specialist Jared Pavluvcik met with the homeowners and designed a radon system with 2 extraction points that will lower the radon levels inside the home to a comfortable level.

Our installation team led by Steven Dumais began by creating two radon extraction points. The team used a 3" core drill to make 2 circular holes in the slab. After the extraction points were made we installed PVC pipe to each point. Next, the team linked the two pipes and fed the pipes to the exterior of the home. With the PVC pipe fed to the exterior of the home, we were then able to install our Radon Fan to the pipe and then vent the system above the roofline of the home. Venting the system above the roofline will eliminate any risk of any radon from re-entering the home.

The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project. The levels inside their home were reduced to a comfortable level below the National Radon Defenses limits for radon levels.

Failing Sump Pumps Replaced, Rye, NH

A Rye, New Hampshire homeowner purchased their childhood home from their parents in 2015 and found that two sump pumps had been installed in the basement around a decade prior. Recently, one of the pumps malfunctioned, prompting the homeowner to seek a replacement. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection with Design Specialist Jason Vachon. Following the inspection, Jason recommended that the homeowner replace their existing sump pumps with our SuperSumps, and the Installation Team, led by Branden Edwards, got to work.

First, the team removed the old pumps and used jackhammers to enlarge the old sump pump pit to accommodate the new SuperSump. Once the concrete was chipped, the team ensured that the new sump pump basin would fit flush with the concrete slab before installing the new SuperSump. The team then connected the system to the exterior of the home, installing an Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the home's foundation. Finally, the team secured the SuperSumps in place with a concrete mixture. The homeowners were thrilled with the new SuperSumps installed in their basement.

A Condos Multi Unit Garage Slab Was Sinking, Rye, NH

An owner of a condominium in Rye, New Hampshire, has a garage unit that they store belongings and a car in. The garage unit is bordered by a few other garage units. The owner has seen the slab in the garage cracking and sinking and reached out to their garage neighbors to see if they had the same issues. They did have very similar issues so the owner facilitated contacting EFS for a free inspection of the garages. Our Design Specialist Jason met with the owners and inspected the garages to propose a solution. Jason recommended lifting and leveling, repairing cracks, and patching some concrete on the exterior of the garage. Since their an HOA the owners had to present Jason's recommendations to the board and the board had to sign off on it. Once the work was signed off on, we were able to schedule the work to be done.

Our installation team began by using PolyLevel to lift and level the slab in each of the garage bays. Next, the team began to seal the cracks in the slab by using NexusPro. Lastly, the team addressed a section of concrete on the exterior of the garage and repaired it by using a concrete surface patch.

The owners and the board members were impressed with the results of the project.

Rusty Lally Columns Needed to be Replaced, Rye, NH

A homeowner in Rye, New Hampshire, had lived in their home for the past decade. Six or seven years ago they had noticed the lone lally column in their garage was showing its age and looking rusty. The father of one of the homeowners told them they needed to call someone to replace the lally columns for them. So the homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Jason recommended replacing the lone lally column with a new one.

Our production team began by removing the old rusted lally column. They then chipped out a 2' x 2' section of concrete to they could place the new lally column below the concrete. The team installed the lally column and then surrounded the base of the lally with engineered fill and rebar. Engineered Fill and Rebar, paired with covering the base of the lally column with concrete will lock it in place.

The homeowner was very pleased with how quick the entire process was. The team was in and out within a matter of hours.
