Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: Radon Concerns, Cambridge, MA
This homeowner in Cambridge, Massachusetts, moved into their home only a couple of days before calling EFS about radon concerns in their home. When the homeowners were going through the process of buying their home, the home inspector noted they should check the radon levels within their home. After moving into their home the homeowner reached out to EFS for us to come out and test the levels inside their home. The radon test indicated that the radon levels in their basement were averaging around 8 pCi/L. Our Design Specialist Dan Gillette met with the homeowner and recommended installing a radon mitigation system in their basement.
Our Installation Team led by Branden Edwards began by creating an extraction point in the basement slab to draw up radon-filled air from beneath the home. After the extraction point was made the team then used PVC piping to collect the radon air from the extraction point and then guide it outside the home where we installed a radon fan. The radon fall creates suction that will draw up radon from beneath the home and push it out of the home and into the open air. This system will lower the levels in the home to below 4.0 pCi/L which is the recommended amount to stay under according to the National Radon Defense.
Before Radon Fan
The team will install the radon fan next to the door on the side of the home.
Radon Pipe Installed
The team created an extraction point in the basement installed the radon pipe and guided it to the outside of the home where it will be connected to the radon fan.
Radon Fan Installed
Once the radon pipe was guided to the exterior of the home the team then installed the radon fan and vented the system above the roofline of the home.
