Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: High Radon Levels in 8 Year Old Home, New London, NH
This homeowner in New London, New Hampshire, built their home in 2015 and has performed 2 radon tests that were fairly high. The most recent test they did was this summer and the levels in their home were 23.1 pCi/L. This number came as a shock and the homeowners called EFS for an inspection on their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowners and tested the radon levels inside the home. The results we received confirmed the concern about the radon inside the home and Jason recommended installing a radon mitigation system with two extraction points.
The Installation Team led by Branden Edward began by creating two extraction points in the basement slab. The team created the two extraction points in the basement utility room. The extraction points were installed approximately 8 feet apart and were connected by PVC pipe and were fed outside to where we installed the radon fan. Once the extraction points were connected to the radon fan the team then vented the radon system above the roofline of the home.
After the team installed the radon system in the home the homeowners were instructed to test the radon levels in the home a week or two after the installation. The results of the test after 2 weeks were dramatically different. The levels in the home were reduced to below 4.0 pCi/L.
