Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: Homeowners Were Concerned About Radon, Medford, MA
A new homeowner in Medford, Massachusetts, had recently purchased their home in October 2022. Before the purchase of their home was final, an inspector looked at the home and recommended testing for radon in the home. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free radon inspection. Our Design Specialist Josh dropped off a CRM test kit 48 hours before his appointment with the homeowners so they could look at the test results at the appointment. On the day of the appointment, Josh went over the test results and inspected the home. The radon levels in the home averaged around 2.4 pCi/L. A healthy number to stay under is 4.0 pCi/L but the homeowners would like to stay on the safe side and would like to look into installing a radon system so Josh designed a radon system for the home.
Our production team began by chipping a small hole in the slab in the basement. This hole will be the extraction point for the radon mitigation system. The team then attached a PVC pipe to the extraction point and began connecting PVC piping. The team used several feet of PVC piping until navigating the piping to the exterior of the home. Once outside, the team installed the Radon Fan to the side of the home and connected the PVC pipe to the fan. After the team vented the system above the roofline of the home.

Radon Pipe Installed
The team created an extraction point in the basement to collect radon from beneath the home. The PVC pipe will guide the radon to the fan.
Radon Fan Installed
The Radon Fan and end of the system were installed on the exterior of the home. This will push the radon air into the open air and prevent radon from re-entering the home.
