Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: Homeowner Recently Learned About The Harmfulness of Radon, Acton, MA
A homeowner in Acton, Massachusetts, recently had some friends tell them about a radon system they installed in their home because of high radon levels. The homeowners hadn't heard of radon before and did some light research on the effects of radon gas on the human body. After some research, the homeowners decide to call EFS for a free radon inspection of their home, and our design specialist recommended installing 2 radon mitigation systems with 3 extraction points into their home.
Our team began by creating the 3 extraction points in the basement slab. They used a core drill to make the extraction point big enough to fit the PVC pipe. The PVC pipe in the extraction point will collect radon gas and direct it to the radon fan. The team installed the 3 extraction points in different areas of the basement to collect the most amount of radon possible. The team will install two radon fans to the exterior of the home, so one extraction point will go to one of the fans and the other two extraction points will go to the other fan. So the team will connect the corresponding extraction points to the correct fans. Once the extraction points were connected to the radon fans, the team then used more PVC pipe to vent the radon systems above the roofline of the home. The team reduced the radon levels from 4.6 pCi/L to near 0.
Before Radon Fan 1
The radon levels in the home were 4.6 pCi/L.
Radon Fan 2 Location
The homeowner would like to reduce the radon levels in their home to a health level.
Extraction Point Leading to Fan
The team installed 3 extraction points to reduce the levels of radon in their home.
Fan 1 Installed
This fan had 1 extraction point leading into it.
Fan 2 Installed
This fan had 2 extraction points leading to it. The radon levels after installation were reduced to almost 0 pCi/L.
