A homeowner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire recently bought a home and wanted to finish his floors on the first floor. He noticed that the floors were crooked, and wanted to make sure the foundation was strong and supportive before getting any flooring work done.

A Design Specialist completed a free inspection of the home and noticed some issues with the crawl space. The Lally columns were not properly supporting the home and the crawl space was very damp. This results in sinking floors and an uncomfortable living space. Our specialist recommended adding SmartJacks and CleanSpace. SmartJacks replace the Lally Columns and provide support and stability to the entire home. This fixes the crooked and sinking floors, creating a level surface. Our CleanSpace vapor barrier encapsulates the crawl space, which provides protection from mold, critters, drafts, wood rot, and cold floors.

A combination of these systems provided this new homeowner with a strong and healthy crawl space. Our team was happy to offer a permanent solution.

Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Our radon mitigation system is completely compatible with the current waterproofing system in your home. Job Stories From Portsmouth, NH
Commercial Concrete Leveling in Portsmouth, NH

Recently, our team took on a challenging yet fulfilling concrete repair job in Portsmouth, NH, at a local laundromat. The homeowner reached out due to significant sinking issues with their sidewalk — sinking by a total of 3 to 4 inches in multiple spots! Plus, the project involved four concrete R+Rs (remove and replaces) alongside more than 200+ feet of NexusPro installation. It was a substantial task that demanded precision and dedication.

Our first step was to thoroughly inspect the site. Our System Design Specialist Jason Vachon evaluated the extent of the damage and proposed a precise plan utilizing our top-notch products, PolyLevel for lifting and stabilizing the concrete slabs, and NexusPro for sealing joints and cracks efficiently. This proactive solution aimed not just at fixing the immediate problems but ensuring the laundromat’s sidewalk would remain stable and look great for years. On the day of the job, armed with advanced technologies and our experienced production team including foreman Nick Melo and skilled installers, we tackled the issue head-on. Using strategic jack placements, every sunken slab was carefully lifted back into place. The difference was night and day — what once was a hazardous, uneven path transformed into a smooth, safe walkway for both the business owners and their customers. Post-lifting, extensive prep was done before applying NexusPro sealing agent to give it that seamless finish.

The end result? A fully restored sidewalk that was not only functional but aesthetically pleasing as well. We took pride in delivering on our mission, providing the homeowner with a remarkable experience and a durable solution to their problem. This project underlines our commitment to ensuring safety, stability, and satisfaction through innovative repair methods.

Hospital Sidewalk Repair in Portsmouth, NH

At Erickson Foundation Solutions, helping communities ensure safety is a responsibility we take seriously. That’s why when a hospital in Portsmouth, NH, reached out with concerns about trip hazards on their sidewalk, we were quick to respond. Understanding the serious implications such hazards posed not only to general safety but especially in a hospital environment, our team was committed to addressing the issue promptly.

After initial contact with our Customer Care team, System Design Specialist Victor Tapia was dispatched to the home to complete a free home inspection. Upon inspection, it was clear – the sidewalks had seen better days, worn down by time and frequent use, they were now posing risks to employees, patients, and visitors alike. Grounded in our mission to offer reliable, lasting solutions and a remarkable customer experience, we proposed a straightforward, efficient plan of action involving our proven products: PolyLevel and NexusPro. PolyLevel, a high-quality concrete leveling solution, was selected to address the uneven slabs whilst avoiding undue disruption to the hospital's daily operations. NexusPro, known for its durable and long-lasting sealant capability, would be used to seal the joints and cracks seamlessly, preventing future wear-and-tear and elemental damage. Our production team, comprising skilled foreman Kris Sergi and dedicated installers, completed the job with precision. Through a synergy of expertise and the superior characteristics of PolyLevel and NexusPro, not only was the ground made even and stable, but the solution also offered a cost-effective, lasting remedy compared to traditional concrete replacement methods.

Post-project, the transformation was unmistakable. The once-hazardous sidewalk was now safe and accessible, enhancing overall safety for the hospital's premises. Hospitals face innumerable challenges daily; a sidewalk problem should not be one.

Leaky Bulkhead Door Repair in Portsmouth, NH

We recently helped a homeowner in Portsmouth, NH, who was worried about their basement flooding while they were away for the winter. Every time heavy rain hit, water would sneak in through the bulkhead entrance, leaving them anxious about the potential damage to their home. Understanding the need for a worry-free solution, they reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions.

After they got in touch, our Customer Care team quickly scheduled an inspection. Our System Design Specialist Jason Vachon then visited the home, providing a thorough inspection. The key issues were identified, and a tailored solution was proposed, central to which was addressing the bulkhead entrance’s vulnerability to water entry. Our proposed solution consisted of three main products: WaterGuard, SuperSump, and IceGuard. We began by installing WaterGuard at the bulkhead entrance, a proven interior drainage system designed to effectively capture wall and floor seepage before it reaches the basement interior. Next, we installed the SuperSump sump pump system to ensure any captured water would be efficiently pumped out of the basement, keeping it dry and safe. Finally, to safeguard against frozen discharge lines in the cold Portsmouth winters, we put in place an IceGuard system. Our production team, led by experienced foreman Anthony LoCascio and backed by skilled installers, worked diligently to implement these solutions. They ensured the work was completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to the homeowner.

When the project was finished, not only was the intrusion of water through the bulkhead entrance effectively halted, but the systems put in place also secured the basement against future flooding risks. The homeowner was delighted with the outcome. As they headed south for the winter, they could now do so without the nagging worry of their basement collecting water in their absence.

Eliminating Garage and Basement Water Intrusion in Portsmouth, NH

When a homeowner in Portsmouth, NH, reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions, they were facing a persistent challenge that many in our community can relate to – a malfunctioning sump pump leading to unwanted water seepage in their basement and garage during heavy rainfalls. As if the water wasn't troublesome enough, they also noticed efflorescence on their basement walls, signaling that moisture was a serious concern needing immediate attention. Understanding the urgency of the situation, our dedicated Customer Care team promptly scheduled a home inspection to get to the root of the problem. Our System Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, meticulously inspected the premises and diagnosed the primary issues at hand. For a lasting solution, we recommended the installation of a TripleSafe Sump Pump system along with the SaniDry Sedona unit. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is uniquely designed to offer three levels of protection, ensuring that the basement remains dry all year round, even in the case of power outages or overwhelming water flow. Complementing this system, the SaniDry Sedona works efficiently to dehumidify and cleanse the air, controlling mold and humidity levels efficiently, making the space comfortable and healthy. Our professional production team got to work, installing these solutions with precision and care, transforming a previously damp and worrisome space into a dry and serene area.

Not only did we rectify the faulty sump pump issue and address the water seepage concern, but by doing so, we also tackled the efflorescence, preventing its recurrence by eliminating its root cause: excess moisture. In the end, the homeowner was delighted with the transformation. The basement and garage that were once sources of stress are now secure and dry, providing peace of mind, especially during torrential downpours.

Water Runoff From Driveway Entering Garage, Portsmouth, NH

A homeowner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had water from their driveway coming into their garage. The homeowners have had this happening for about a year and would like to find a solution to this issue. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Isaac recommended installing Trench Drain, SuperSump, and Ice Guard into the garage to collect any water and pump it out.

Our installation team began by chipping out thin sections of concrete across the width of the garage and then up under the door on the left side of the garage. By the door on the left side of the garage, the team dug out a bigger section of concrete to fit our SuperSump. The team plumbed our sump pump through the wall to the outside of the home where we installed an IceGuard and a discharge line to send the water away from the home. From the sump, the team installed Trench Drain under the door and across the width of the garage. The TrenchDrain will collect any water that enters the garage and will guide it to the SuperSump. The team performed a water test on the TrenchDrain to ensure the system works before laying concrete around the TrenchDrain and SuperSump.

The homeowner was very pleased with the result of the project. They no longer worry about having water enter their garage.

Garage Items Need Protection from Water, Newington, NH

A homeowner in Newington, New Hampshire, has water entering their garage. The homeowner found that water was entering the garage from the control joints. The water was threatening to damage personal belongings in the garage. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Jason recommended installing WaterGuard and a SuperSump to collect any water entering the garage and then using NexusPro to seal the control joints on the garage floor.

Our production team began by chipping out concrete on the right wall of the garage to install the WaterGuard so it can collect water and direct it to the sump pump. After the WaterGuard and SuperSump were installed the team then covered them in a thin layer of concrete to conceal them. Next, the team plumbed the sump pump and installed the drainage line to the exterior of the garage. Once the entire system was set up the team then used NexusPro to seal the joints in the concrete. The NexusPro will prevent water from seeping onto the garage floors.

With the system installed the homeowners haven't seen any water entering the garage anymore.

ERV Installation, Portsmouth, NH

A homeowner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, lived in an 1880s home for the past 10 years. Earlier this year, the homeowner's were worried about the air quality in their house. They had a radon mitigation system installed but still felt like the air quality in their home could be better. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our design specialist Chris Greenwood recommended installing an ERV system and a SaniDry into the basement to improve the air quality in their home.

The production team began by mounting the ERV system to the wall in the basement. After it was mounted the team then set up the 4 outlets/intakes. After the outlets and intakes were installed the team then moved on to installing the SaniDry Sedona in the basement.

The ERV will bring fresh air into the home and remove old stale air while the SaniDry will keep the humidity in the home at a comfortable level.

The homeowners were pleased with the results of the installation. They are confident the air in their home is the best it's ever been.

Mitigate Radon and Water Before Finishing Basement, Portsmouth, NH

A homeowner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had finished building their home in 2013 and moved in right after it was complete. The homeowners realized shortly after moving in that water was seeping into the basement and they were concerned about radon levels. The homeowners wanted to finish their basement so they could have more useable space but needed to make sure the water and radon weren't going to ruin the finished basement. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our design specialist recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System, NexusPro, A SaniDry, UltraSump, and IceGuard in the basement to prevent water and radon from seeping in.

Our production team began by setting up the UltraSump to be installed. The team chipped out a small section of concrete and removed some dirt so they could fit the UltraSump basin. Once the UltraSump was installed the team then poured concrete around the basin to lock it in place. As the concrete was curing the team used a core drill to make the extraction point for the radon system. Once the extraction point was made the team then attached a PVC pipe to the extraction point. The PVC pipe was fed to the exterior of the home where the radon fan will be installed. The team installed the radon fan on the exterior of the home and connected the PVC pipe to the fan so the radon air collected from beneath the slab can be sent out into the open air to dissipate. After the radon system was installed the team began installing the IceGuard and the drainage line connected to the UltraSump. The team attached the IceGuard to the beginning of the drainage line and then made sure the line extended 10' away from the home.

The homeowner was very pleased with the results of the project. They won't have to worry about water and radon ruining their basement once they finish it.

Radon and Waterproofing Concerns, Portsmouth, NH

A homeowner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had some radon and waterproofing concerns in their home. The home had a finished basement and a 5.5ft tall crawlspace with crushed stone along the floor. The homeowner was worried that the crushed stone would allow moisture and radon into the crawlspace and the rest of the home. Our design specialist recommended installing a radon mitigation system with 2 extraction points and then encapsulating the crawlspace with Draining Matting and CleanSpace.

Our team began by determining the location of the two extraction points for the radon mitigation system. The team installed one extraction point in the crawlspace and one in the finished basement. After they made the extraction points they began to connect PVC to the extraction point and run the PVC pipe to the exterior of the home. Once the PVC pipe was directed to the exterior of the home the team began to install the radon fan to the exterior of the home. After the team secured the fan to the siding of the home the team connected the PVC pipe to the radon fan and vented the system above the roofline.

Next, the team began laying down Drainage Matting to start the encapsulation process of the crawlspace. The Drainage Matting will allow water and air to freely travel underneath the encapsulation but not enter the crawlspace. After the matting was installed the team then began installing the CleanSpace over it. The team used a combination of sheets of CleanSpace and CleanSpace Tape to encapsulate the entire crawlspace.

The homeowner was happy their radon and waterproofing needs were met. The homeowners no longer have to worry about radon and water/ moisture getting into the basement/ crawlspace.

Brick Columns In Basement Need To Be Replaced, Portsmouth, NH

A homeowner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, recently purchased a home that was built in 1900. The home had unlevel floors that they would like to repair and the basement had brick columns that the homeowner would like to have replaced. The homeowner reached out to EFS for a free inspection, and our design specialist recommended replacing the brick columns with SmartJacks to stabilize and level the floors above.

Our team began by setting up temporary posts around the basement. After the temp posts were installed, the team began removing the brick columns from the basement. Next, the team chipped out the concrete where the old brick supports were installed. Once a section of concrete was removed the team dug down and set rebar into the hole. After, the team created a base for the SmartJack by pouring concrete into the hole with the rebar. The team let the concrete cure before installing the SmartJacks. When the concrete was cured the team secured the SmartJack to the beam above and the footing onto the newly cured concrete base. Once the team made sure the SmartJacks are leveled, they poured concrete over the footings to lock them into place. Once all of the SmartJacks were installed the team used the adjustable top to lift on the beam and level the floor.

The homeowners were very pleased with the SmartJacks installation. The homeowners no longer have to worry about the supports in their basement failing.

Michael thinks that the crack in the wall is because of hydrostatic pressure. He had also found some moisture issues in the basement.
