Basement Flooding Repair in Pelham, NH Basement Flooding Repair in Pelham, NH

Homeowners in Pelham, New Hampshire had recently experienced multiple basement floods once snow started melting. The previous sump pump that was installed in their home was unable to keep up with the high volume of water surrounding the foundation. With plans to finish the basement in the future, these homeowners know they had to waterproof the basement in order to protect their investment.

Design Specialist, Josh Bartholomew, recommended installing WaterGuard perimeter drainage and a TripleSafe sump pump system. The WaterGuard system is installed around the perimeter of the basement and collects water from the wet soil surrounding the basement before being exposed to the basement walls and floor. WaterGuard then distributes that water to the TripleSafe sump pump system. The TripleSafe guarantees that unwanted water will always get pumped out of the home. The three-pump system has a pump for standard water levels, high water levels, and an emergency battery-powered backup pump.

After installing these systems, our installation crew performed a final walkthrough with the homeowners. They were extremely happy with the final result!

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Job Stories From Pelham, NH
Waterproofing Before Finishing Basement in Pelham, NH

At Erickson Foundation Solutions, we recently had the opportunity to help homeowners in Pelham, NH, overcome a challenge that was all too familiar – water entering their basement through cold joints during rainstorms. This persistent issue was a major roadblock in their plans to finish their basement space.

Upon their call, our Customer Care team quickly set them up with an appointment, and our System Design Specialist Chuck Benedict was on site in no time. After a thorough inspection, it was clear that to turn their basement into the usable, dry space they dreamed of, a robust solution was necessary. We recommended the installation of our WaterGuard interior drainage system and the TripleSafe Sump Pump system, complemented with an IceGuard discharge line and the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to address both the immediate and long-term moisture control needs of the space. Our production team, consisting of a skilled foreman Patrick Montine and professional installers, took on the task with precision. They installed the WaterGuard along the interior perimeter of the basement to effectively capture wall and floor joint leaks. The TripleSafe Sump Pump was set up to provide triple the protection against water overloading, an especially useful feature during heavy rains. For those cold New Hampshire winters, the IceGuard system was installed to prevent sump pump discharge line freezing. Finally, the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was set up to keep the air dry and healthy, preventing mold and mildew growth.

The outcome was exactly what we aim for – a perfectly dry basement, ready for the homeowners to finish and enjoy. They can now proceed with their renovation plans without worrying about the havoc water could wreak.

Sump Pump Replacement in Pelham, NH

At Erickson Foundation Solutions, we thrive on giving homeowners peace of mind, especially when it comes to something as important as keeping their basements dry. We recently had the opportunity to help a homeowner in Pelham, NH, turn their constant struggle with a wet basement into a thing of the past. Having lived in a charming home built back in 1962, the homeowner was no stranger to the woes of constant water seepage. Despite having a sump pump, every rainstorm meant water pooled in the basement, seeping in through the cold joints - not to mention the unwelcome guest that is mold.

Understanding how crucial a dry basement is to a home's health, our path to resolution started with an in-depth inspection by one of our skilled System Design Specialists, Matthew Robichaud. After carefully evaluating the situation, we hashed out a plan tailor-made for this home's unique challenges. With the green light from the homeowner, our foreman Gunther Billhardt and skilled installers got down to work. Our solution? The powerful trio of WaterGuard, TripleSafe Sump Pump, and IceGuard. With WaterGuard's perimeter drainage system stealthily tucked at the edge of the basement floor, it became the unsung hero, quietly capturing any water seeping in. The TripleSafe Sump Pump brought its A-game, being engineered to handle the highest of flooding, ensuring reliability where the previous pump hadn't. And for those Pelham winters, we added IceGuard, keeping the system efficient even when everything else freezes over.

The result? A basement as dry as the Mojave. Gone were the days of waking up to a wet and moldy underworld post-rain. Instead, peace of mind reigns, thanks to a system that works around the clock.

Stabilizing Settling Foundation, Pelham, NH

A homeowner in Pelham, New Hampshire noticed that the stone façade at the back of their house was starting to crack and pull away. Not knowing who to call, they contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions to arrange an inspection. Design Specialist Liam FitzPatrick met with the homeowner and examined the stone at the back of the house. After inspecting it, he checked the foundation for any signs of settling. Liam took measurements around the house and discovered that the entire building had settled more than an inch, causing cracks in the foundation and the stone façade at the back of the house.

To prevent further damage, Liam recommended installing 32 Push Piers around the entire house and injecting Crack Sealant to fill the cracks in the foundation. Neal Foley led the installation team, which began by removing dirt from around the foundation. They dug down to expose the footing around the entire house, allowing them to start installing the Push Piers. While digging, the team noticed a lot of water and mud around the house. Neal recommended adding 4" foundation drainage around the perimeter of the foundation to help drain water away from the house.

The team then proceeded to install the Push Pier Brackets, securing each bracket to the footing and fitting their hydraulic press to multiple brackets so they could push the piers down simultaneously. They capped each pier to lock them into place and installed perimeter drainage around the foundation. They then sealed 48' of foundation cracks with Injection Cracks Sealant. Finally, they backfilled the dirt around the house and tamped it down to prevent soil erosion.

The homeowners were satisfied with the project and know that the Push Piers will protect their home from future settling.

New Homeowners Concerned About Radon Levels, Pelham, NH

A new homeowner in Pelham, New Hampshire, recently purchased a home in May 2022, since they moved in the homeowners were wary of the radon levels in their home. After a couple of months of worry, the homeowners decided to call EFS for a free radon inspection. Our design specialist recommended installing a radon mitigation system in their basement to reduce the levels of radon in their home.

Our radon team began by creating an extraction point in the slab of the basement floor. The team used a core drill to make a circular cut out of the slab so they could install PVC pipe to collect the radon from under the home. The team then runs the PVC pipe through the basement to the outside of the home where the team will install the radon fan. The team set up the radon fan on the exterior of the home and connected the PVC pipe from the extraction point to the fan. The fan will draw radon-filled air from beneath the slab and send it outside the home where it can't re-enter the home.

The homeowner was relieved that the radon levels in their home were reduced to a comfortable level.

Radon Mitigation System, Pelham, NH

A homeowner in Pelham, New Hampshire, recently tested their home for radon. The results from the test came back at an average of 31 pCi/L. The homeowners would like to install a radon mitigation system into their home. They planned on finishing the basement and are worried about their grandchildren's health. The homeowners had a passive system in their home and our design specialist Michael B. recommended installing a radon fan onto the existing passive system.

Our production team started by examining the existing passive radon system. The system had one extraction point and our crew needed to add a second to capture as much radon as possible. The team started by chipping out a section of concrete for the additional extraction point. Once the team chipped out enough concrete, they inserted a PVC radon pipe into the concrete and sealed it. After the team sealed the extraction point they tied the radon pipe in with the existing radon systems. Once the team set up the two extraction points were set up, the team then went up into the attic and installed a radon fan onto the existing system. The radon team made sure the radon system was working correctly before leaving.

The homeowners were very happy with their new radon system. The radon system reduced the radon levels in their home to a safe level.

Erosion Causing Foundation and Waterproofing Issues, Pelham, NH

A homeowner in Pelham, New Hampshire, had dirt entering their basement. Water coming off of the roof and water was pulling dirt into the basement because the foundation in the front of the home doesn't have a footing. The home was built in the 1940s and seemed to have additions installed to the home throughout the years. Our design specialist Michael B. recommended installing Helical Piers in the front of the home, a small masonry wall to hold dirt and water back from coming into the basement, SmartJacks, and a perimeter drainage system.

Our team first started by installing the SmartJacks under the main floor. The team propped up a supplemental beam under the floor joist. The team then installed the SmartJacks under the supplemental beam and secured them together by using a U bracket and self-taping screws. After the SmartJacks are installed the team began chipping out concrete from the perimeter drainage system. They chipped out a small trench around the perimeter of the basement so they can install WaterGuard and the TripleSafe Sump. Once our team placed the WaterGuard and TripleSafe in the small trench around the basement, they then poured concrete around the WaterGuard and Triplesafe. After the perimeter drainage was installed, the team began exposing the foundation wall at the front of the home so they could install the Helical Piers. The team used a hydraulic drive head to torque the Helical piers under the home to stabilize the front of the home. Once the Helical piers are installed, the team moved back inside the basement to start the masonry block wall. The team started by pouring concrete footing. Next, after the footing was cured the team started laying concrete blocks. Our lead mason laid two levels of blocks to prevent dirt and water from entering the main section of the basement.

The homeowners were happy that our team was able to stop water and dirt from entering the basement while also stabilizing the foundation and the floors on the main floor.
