Keeping a Basement Dry, North Chelmsford, MA

Keeping a Basement Dry, North Chelmsford, MA Keeping a Basement Dry, North Chelmsford, MA

These homeowners in North Chelmsford were tired of their basement having a wet, musty smell. They planned to finish a section of the basement area in the near future, and so knew they needed to solve their water and moisture problem first. Their old sump pump was functional, but sitting in an exposed pit of water, which allowed mold to grow and moisture to spread.

Our team proposed and installed a complete waterproofing system that would allow them to have a dry basement. First, the walls were encapsulated with CleanSpace vapor barrier, which effectively captures all moisture leaking through the basement walls. Next, we added a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard along the base of all the foundation walls. Any water entering the basement from the edges of the foundation would be caught by the WaterGuard tracks and directed to the sump pump basin. The TripleSafe system within the basin includes 3 sump pumps and an alarm system. This waterproofing system also comes with a battery back-up, in case the home ever loses power during a storm.

To further help control moisture levels in the basement, the homeowners purchased a SaniDry dehumidifier, the most effective dehumidifier on the market. This is all backed up by our full warranty and our All Things Basementy network!

With this complete waterproofing system in place, they have peace of mind that their basement will stay dry all the time!

Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Our radon mitigation system is completely compatible with the current waterproofing system in your home. Get in contact with us now to learn how to protect your loved ones from the harmful effects of radon gas.

Job Stories From North Chelmsford, MA
Garage Floor Leveling in North Chelmsford, MA

At Erickson Foundation Solutions, we recently had the pleasure of assisting a homeowner in North Chelmsford, MA, who contacted us with a pressing concern: their garage floor was settling, and it seemed like a puzzling and stressful situation. Fortunately, we specialize in turning home worries into relief and peace of mind, particularly when it comes to concrete issues.

Understanding the homeowner's problem, our process began with a warm welcome by our Customer Care team, which quickly coordinated a home inspection. The comprehensive evaluation, directed by our experienced System Design Specialist Matthew Robichaud, confirmed the garage floor issue was due to the underlying soil's instability, a pretty common culprit in unsettling occurrences like this. To solve the problem effectively and for the long run, we recommended our PolyLevel product. Why PolyLevel? Because it's not only an efficient way to lift and stabilize concrete but also an incredibly durable solution, ensuring the homeowner won't have to face the same issue again. Our PolyLevel process involves injecting a high-density foam under the concrete, which expands, fills the voids in the soil, and lifts the concrete back to its original, correct position. Our production team, led by knowledgeable foreman Nick Melo and our skilled installers, executed the work smoothly. They skillfully managed the PolyLevel installation, ensuring special care to each detail and minimally disrupting our client's daily life.

After finishing the project, our team made sure to leave the site cleaner than when we arrived. The result? A sturdily leveled garage floor revitalizing the homeowner's convenience and safety. The homeowner was relieved and impressed by how promptly and non-intrusively the problem was resolved, rendering their worry a thing of the past.

Replacing a Failed French Drain in Finished Basement in North Chelmsford, MA

A homeowner in North Chelmsford, MA, faced a disheartening scene when their previously trusted French drain system failed, leaving their beautifully finished basement water-damaged and unusable. Understanding the urgency of their dilemma, they reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions.

Upon receiving their call, we swiftly arranged for an inspection. Our System Design Specialist Debra Rayborn visited the home, conducting a thorough assessment of the situation. It was clear the existing drainage system was inadequate for their needs, leading to its unsightly defeat against water intrusion. Our recommended solution was comprehensive and geared towards preventing future occurrences. We proposed the installation of our reliable WaterGuard system, the resilient UltraSump sump pump, and an IceGuard discharge protection. Each of these products plays a pivotal role in ensuring basements remain dry, no matter the weather conditions outside. WaterGuard intercepts water at the basement perimeter, channeling it to the UltraSump sump pump which then efficiently evacuates it from the home. Should freezing conditions clog the discharge line, IceGuard provides an escape route for water, preventing backups. The homeowner was eager to proceed, trusting in our expertise and comprehensive approach. Our knowledgeable and attentive installation team completed the job efficiently, transforming a once vulnerable space into a dry, secure area the homeowner could again trust and enjoy. Cleanup was thorough, ensuring the homeowner's property was respected and preserved throughout the process.

Reflecting on the project, the homeowner was pleased with the transformation. The fear of rainstorms damaging their basement again had been alleviated, replaced with confidence in their new, robust waterproofing solution. At Erickson Foundation Solutions, it was another day’s work well done, helping another family enjoy peace of mind in their home.

Replacing Old Wooden Supports in Basement, North Chelmsford, MA

A homeowner in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts recently purchased a house built in the early 1900s. They noticed that the wooden supports in the basement needed to be replaced and believed they were the original supports. To ensure their safety, they contacted EFS for a free inspection of their basement.

Our Design Specialist, Victor Tapia, inspected the supports and recommended replacing them with galvanized steel SmartJacks and a Supplemental beam. Our installation team, led by Eric Witham, began by setting up temporary posts to support the floor system while they removed the old supports. They then chipped out four sections in the basement slab to install footings for the four SmartJacks. We used big plate footings to support the galvanized steel supports and supplemental beams. Once the plates were in place and leveled, we cut the supports to the correct length to install our beam and support the floor joists.

Once everything was in place, the team used the adjustable topper on each SmartJack to start lifting, leveling, and stabilizing the floor system. Once everything was in its final position, we mixed concrete and poured it over the footings to lock everything into place. The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project and had peace of mind that the original supports wouldn't fail.

Installing SmartJacks to Floors in Addition, North Chelmsford, MA

This homeowner in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, had lived in their home for the past 30 years. This home is there forever home of the owners and wants to make sure stays in good condition for years to come. They plan on continuing to maintain and upgrade the home as the years go by. Right now the most pressing item on the list for the home is to add better supports under the floor of their addition. The addition had wooden supports that were installed by the owners' father and should be replaced with something that will stand the test of time. The homeowners found EFS online and found that our SmartJacks were something that piqued their interest as a viable option. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection of the home.

Our Design Specialist Kenny Calabrese met with the homeowners and inspected the supports under the addition and recommended installing SmartJacks and Supplemental Beams beneath the floor to stabilize it.

Our installation team led by Anthony Locascio began by marking where we will install our 6 SmartJacks and 2 Supplemental Beams. The team measured and installed the beams and support posts beneath the floors of the addition. These supports will stabilize the floors of the addition for many years to come.

The homeowners were very happy with the result of the project and won't have to worry about the floors of the addition again.

Water Entering Finished Basement, North Chelmsford, MA

A homeowner in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, had water coming into their basement for the last few years. The carpet in their basement was damaged by water because the water had constantly entered the basement. The homeowner knows that this issue will be a sticking point when they decide to sell the home. Our design specialist Stephen examined where the water has been collecting in the basement. Stephen recommended installing WaterGuard, UltraSump, and IceGuard to stop water from collecting on the floor in their basement. Additionally, Stephen recommended replacing the bulkhead door, FlexiSpan, and a Crack Monitor to prevent water from coming through the walls.

Our production team first started by exposing 22' of foundation wall in the basement. They then chipped out 26' of concrete to install the WaterGuard along the foundation wall. At the end of the WaterGuard, the team had dug a basin to install the UltraSump. The team then used a core drill to feed the drainage line through to the exterior of the home. After the drainage line is fed through to the exterior of the home, the team connected the IceGuard to the drainage line. Following the waterproofing system being installed the team removed the old bulkhead and replaced it with the new one. Finally, the team installed FlexiSpan over the crack in the foundation wall and applied a crack monitor to the crack on the exterior of the home. EFS was able to prevent water from coming into their basement.
