This retaining wall in Gloucester was at risk of sinking and collapsing, due to the tides washing away its foundation soils underneath. We applied our PolyLEVEL product and filled in the voids with a highly effective, durable polymer foam. The wall is now no longer at risk of sinking, and the rising and sinking waters will be unable to erode the foam as it did the soils.

Out in Gloucester, MA, a homeowner faced a unique challenge with their home’s underbelly. Half concrete, half dirt, their crawl space was losing the battle against moisture — a homeowner’s nightmare that could lead to a plethora of issues down the line. Fortunately, they reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions, and our team was quick to roll up our sleeves and tackle the problem head-on.
Our approach was detailed yet straightforward. After a comprehensive home inspection spearheaded by our System Design Specialist Chuck Benedict, we diagnosed the root of the moisture infiltration and proposed a tailored solution to the homeowner. The plan was robust, involving a combination of our tried and tested products: CleanSpace, WaterGuard, TripleSafe Sump Pump, IceGuard, and the SaniDry Sedona. For the dirt section of the crawl space, we used CleanSpace to fully encapsulate the area, sealing out moisture, while we applied CleanSpace to the foundation walls of the concrete section. But we didn't stop there. We installed WaterGuard around the perimeter of the crawl space to efficiently catch water ingress before it caused any damage. At the heart of the system, the TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed, providing the homeowner with peace of mind through its reliable water evacuation capabilities, along with an IceGuard to prevent any interruptions caused by frozen discharge lines. In addition, we brought in a SaniDry Sedona to control the humidity levels, ensuring the air quality remained high and further guarding against moisture.
Post-installation, the outcome was palpable: a dry, secure crawl space. The homeowner could rest easy knowing that their home was now fortified against moisture’s insidious threats.
When a homeowner in Gloucester, MA reached out to us, they were grappling with a crawl space that was not only bone-chilling during the winter months but also struggling with severe dampness. Understandably, this created an uncomfortably cold living space above, impacting their daily comfort and potentially the health of their home.
After contacting our Customer Care team, our System Design Specialist Debra Rayborn was on-site, conducting a thorough inspection to grasp the nuances of the problem. It was clear; the crawl space needed a comprehensive solution to address the dampness and insulation insufficiencies -- that's where Erickson Foundation Solutions came into play. To combat these issues, we knew our SilverGlow insulation, paired with the CleanSpace vapor barrier system, would be pivotal. SilverGlow is designed to insulate and seal the crawl space, preventing the cold and humidity from seeping up into the living areas. Meanwhile, CleanSpace encapsulates the area to ward off moisture, making the crawl space more of an asset than a liability. Recognizing the importance of addressing drainage, the installation of SmartPipe and a SmartDrain ensured that any water finding its way into the crawl space would be smartly redirected away from the home. Our production team, led by our experienced foreman Abdou Taal and supported by skilled installers, brought this solution to life.
Once our work was completed, the difference in the crawl space, and more importantly, in the temperature and comfort of the home above, was like night and day.
At Erickson Foundation Solutions, we understand just how unsettling water problems can be for homeowners, especially when it strikes where you feel safest – your home’s foundation. In Gloucester, MA, we encountered a situation that truly tested our ability to provide both a remarkable customer experience and a long-lasting solution. The homeowner reached out to us with water intrusion in their basement, primarily occurring during rainstorms. Water seeping in through a wall near the bulkhead entrance had become more than just a nuisance. It raised concerns for the safety of utilities stored in the basement – certainly a situation that called for immediate and effective action.
After scheduling a home inspection, our System Design Specialist Matthew Robichaud went out to the property, identifying the core issues and proposing a tailored solution. Given the pattern of water intrusion and the homeowner's concerns, we recommended installing our premier products: CleanSpace, WaterGuard, and the TripleSafe Sump Pump system. CleanSpace provides a moisture and vapor barrier, ensuring the walls of the basement are protected. Paired with the WaterGuard, which serves as an interior drainage system, we could intercept and channel water effectively to the TripleSafe Sump Pump, which is robustly designed with three levels of protection to work effectively, even in the highest levels of water inflow.
The outcome was as effective as our approach. The installation, led by our conscientious production team, was swift, minimizing any disruption to the homeowner. On completion, the area was left clean, and the activity proceeded with minimal intervention required from the homeowner. The difference was immediate. The basement remained dry and secure, no matter the severity of the rainstorms, bringing a huge relief to the homeowners.
Recently, we had the opportunity to help a family in Gloucester, MA, get back to loving their home, especially their finished basement. Before contacting us, they faced a nerve-wracking issue. Their existing sump pump quit on them, leading to water sneaking its way in and promoting mold growth along their beautiful walls and floors. Understandably, they were worried about the damage to their cherished space and the possibility of losing it to persistent moisture problems.
After they reached out, our Customer Care team hustled and set up a time for a home visit. Our System Design Specialist visited the home, performed a meticulous inspection, and diagnosed the root cause of the flooding basement. It was clear that we needed to upgrade their system to effectively combat their water troubles. We suggested installing our TripleSafe Sump Pump, known for its reliability, and our IceGuard system, perfect for those chilly times when freezing can be an issue. Our production team, consisting of seasoned foreman Ryan Champagne and several skilled installers, dove into the task with enthusiasm. Teamwork shined as they fitted the new TripleSafe sump pump, replacing the obsolete one without fuss. With the IceGuard in place too, the homeowner was also safeguarded against frozen discharge lines—ensuring smooth sailing even during the coldest periods. Additionally, since we get how much clutter and mess can come from renovating, our crew made sure to clean up before waving goodbye, leaving no trace they were ever there—except, of course, for the spanking new waterproofing solutions standing guard.
As we wrapped up, it was like you could breathe easier in the basement—no trickling sounds, no dampness, just the cozy feel of a loving home ready for countless more memories.
A homeowner in Gloucester, Massachusetts, had lived in their home for the past 50 years. The basement has some ledge in it and it seems to collect moisture. They have always had a moisture issue in their basement but recently the homeowner's wife had gotten covid and became more aware of the quality of the air they were breathing. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Kenny looked at the basement and recommended installing Foamax and a SaniDry dehumidifier to the side of the basement with the ledge to help eliminate the moisture entering the basement.
Our team began by cutting pieces of foam board to fit the wall. The team fit the pieces of Foamax on the wall and then secured them against the wall using something we call Christmas trees because of the way they look. After the Foamax were placed on the walls the team then used spray foam to seal them and make sure no air or moisture can travel through the foam. After the team installed the Foamax the team then installed the SaniDry in the basement to reduce any moisture in the air.
The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the installation of the Foamax and SaniDry.
A homeowner in Gloucester, Massachusetts, had questioned the air quality and humidity in their basement. They reached out to EFS for the service of their existing SaniDry Sedona. Our Service Technician Justin performed the annual service on the SaniDry but had a conversation with the homeowner revealing that they were concerned with the air quality in their home. After a conversation with the homeowner, Justin recommended an ERV system to the homeowner to improve the air quality in their basement.
Our production crew led by Branden Edwards installed the ERV on the basement wall. Off of the ERV system is 4 silver pipes that transfer old stale air from inside the home and replace it with new clean air from outside the home. The ERV improved the air quality in the basement.
The homeowner was delighted with the results of the project.
A homeowner in Gloucester, Massachusetts, had recently installed a radon system in their home. Since the radon system was installed the homeowner felt that the sump pump in their basement hasn't been working that well. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our design specialist recommended installing a TripleSafe, IceGuard, Drainage Line, and TimeMachine into the basement to replace the existing sump pump.
Our production team began by removing the existing sump from the basement. Once the team removed the sump they began chipping out concrete so they could install our TripleSafe. The team removed some concrete and dirt to place the TripleSafe basin flush with the rest of the concrete. After the basin was installed, the team then began setting up the TripeSafe in the basin and installing the TimeMachine so the homeowner can check the status of the sump pump via BlueTooth. After the TripleSafe was set in the basement and the TimeMachine was connected the team plumbed the TripleSafe to the exterior of the home. Once outside, the team installed the IceGuard at the start of the exterior drainage line to prevent water from backing up into the basement. After the IceGuard the team used over 10' of Drainage Line to expel the water away from the home and prevent water from re-entering the basement.
The homeowner was pleased with the results of the project. They were happy they don't have to worry about their sump pump working and additionally had the added benefit of checking the status of their sump pump on their phone.
A homeowner in Gloucester, Massachusetts, just purchased a home that was built in the 1940s. The new homeowner noticed ground water collecting in their concrete crawlspace. The crawlspace had an existing sump pit but the water was still collecting on the concrete floor. The homeowners planned on renovating the entire home but they wanted to start with this. Our design specialist Tom recommended encapsulating the crawlspace and adding a SmartSump into the sump pit.
Our production team began by installing Drainage Matting all over the crawlspace floor. The Drainage Matting will allow air and water to travel underneath it. Once the team covered the floor with the matting they began installing the CleanSpace over the Drainage Matting. The team sealed all the edges of CleanSpace with CleanSpace Tape. CleanSpace will act as a moisture barrier and prevent water and moisture from entering the crawlspace. When the team fully encapsulated the Crawlspace the team started to install the SmartSump into the old sump pit. The team made sure to use CleanSpace Tape to seal the edges of the SmartSump to make sure no moisture can enter the crawlspace.
The new homeowners were happy with the encapsulation of their crawlspace. Now no water can enter the crawlspace and collect on the floor. The homeowner can now move on to additional renovations that needed to be done.
A homeowner in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has a dirt-floored crawlspace under their home that was part block wall and part fieldstone foundation. The homeowner has experienced cold floors and drafts of cool air. The homeowner was interested in insulating their crawlspace to prevent cold feet and cold drafts in their home. Our design specialist Kenny first recommended installing our SilverGlo crawlspace insulation on the block wall portion of the crawlspace and then spraying PolyLevel Wall Restoration on the fieldstone portion. This will protect the home from those sudden rushes of cold air coming through the home. The second part of Kenny's recommendation way to encapsulate and support the crawlspace.
The first production the team installed were the SilverGlo, PolyLevel Wall Restoration, and SmartJacks. Our team will encapsulate the crawlspace at a later date. The team began by clearing all of the debris from the crawlspace. Next, our team used our PolyLevel rig to spray PolyLevel Wall Restoration over the fieldstone foundation. The team sprayed a consistent layer of poly over the fieldstone until it was completely covered. After the poly was completed, the team then installed the SilverGlo to the block foundation wall. Once the team installed the last section of SilverGlo the crawlspace was insulated. The next product to be installed was SmartJacks. The team installed 4 SmartJacks under the main beam in the crawlspace. The team first dug 4 holes big enough for our SmartJack footings. In each hole, the team poured engineered fill to support each SmartJack. The team will tamp the engineered fill and then place the SmartJack footing on top of the fill. Next, the team attached the SmartJack to the main beam and finally covered each SmartJack footing will more engineered fill.
The homeowner still needed to have the crawlspace encapsulated, but was very happy with the results of insulating and supporting the crawlspace. The homeowner set an installation date for encapsulating the crawlspace in the coming weeks.
This homeowner in Gloucester, Massachusetts was experiencing higher than normal radon levels in her home. She had a radon test done in her home recently and the results were around 21.5 pCi/L. She would like to explore the options of installing a radon mitigation system in her home. She decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

The Blynam Canal Drawdridge had a retaining wall which was gradually having the soil underneath its footing washed away by the tides rising and falling. Upon excavating down to install a new foundation for a structure above, the DoT found huge voids underneath the wall, leaving the wall susceptible to sinking and allowing water to overflow. They needed a stronger base for their new structure, one that wouldn't be at risk of being washed away by the tide.
The DoT hired Erickson Foundation Supportworks to come in and fill the voids under the wall with PolyLEVEL. We first inserted pipes into cracks and crevices within the stones and wall, allowing us to spray in PolyLEVEL deep into the voids on the water side of the canal. On the retaining wall side, we sprayed in PolyLEVEL into the voids under the wall and between all the large stones on this side.
Although the water table could still rise up with the tide, it could no longer wash in and out with the waves or ebb of the water. Therefore, the water can no longer wash out the supporting soils, or PolyLEVEL, under the retaining wall. The wall is now fully supported and no longer at risk of sinking or failing.
