Failing Fieldstone Foundation Wall

The fieldstone foundation wall was cracking and bowing, clear signs that the structural integrity of the home was becoming compromised.

PowerBrace Foundation Wall Stabilization System

The project started by installing our PowerBrace Wall Stabilization system to the interior of the failing foundation wall. This system is designed to stabilize and even potentially straighten a foundation wall over time. Due to the severity of the foundation wall damage, a more comprehensive solution was needed. An auxiliary wall would further support and restore structural integrity to the home.

Auxiliary Wall Forms

Rebar was run through the PowerBrace system to provide kicking power for when the wall is poured. Forms are then constructed to mold the shape of the auxiliary wall. Wooden supports are then leveraged to support the forms as the concrete for the wall is being poured. A polyurethane foam is then used to seal any potential cracks, ensuring the concrete pour does not leak. The concrete is then poured. The crew uses a vibrating tool as concrete fills in the form to ensure no air pockets in the wall are created. The top of the wall is then leveled.

Auxiliary Wall Completed Installation

After the concrete solidifies, the forms are removed, revealing the completed installation of the auxiliary wall. The foundation wall is now stable and can support the rest of the home.

Failing Support Posts

Wooden support posts and temporary support columns were previously used to uphold the home's floors. These are not reliable for supporting floors long-term. The homeowners started noticing sagging and creaky floors.

Adjustable Support Columns

SmartJacks replaced the previous support columns to ensure that the floors above the basement were stabilized. These adjustable supports are more durable thanks to their engineering, including galvanized steel plates and adjustable sizing. With SmartJacks installed, the homeowner has peace of mind that the floors will be permanently stabilized, and even lifted.

Basement Dehumidifier

For the cherry on top, we installed our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This high-powered dehumidifier was installed to create a healthier airspace, removing toxins in the air as well as lowering humidity levels. This provides better quality air throughout the entire home.
