A homeowner in Middleton, New Hampshire, had purchased their 1950s lakeside cottage just two years ago. They have always noticed that the floors in the cottage were twisting and sagging. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection of the supports under the floor system. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowners and examined the existing supports. After Jason's inspection, he recommended replacing 12 supports and replacing them with 12 SmartJacks and 64' of Supplemental beam to stabilize and level the floor system.
Our installation team led by Ed N. set up temporary posts in the crawlspace to support the floor while we remove the old supports and install our new SmartJacks and Supplemental Beam. Our team installed our big plate footings on the dirt floor so the SmartJack has a base to support the floors. Once the footings were secured the team then cut the SmartJacks to the correct size and installed our top brackets and Supplemental beam. Once all of the supports were in place, the team then began to tighten the top brackets to lift and level the floor system. We used laser levels to make sure the floors were perfectly flat.
The team then cleaned up the crawlspace and showed the homeowner their new SmartJacks. The homeowner was very pleased with the results of the project.
