Foundation Repair Photo Album: Sagging Floors, Maynard, MA

This home built in the 1920's was dealing with sagging beams and floor joists, which ultimately led to cracking plaster in the home above. The old columns and posts in the basement were replaced with SmartJacks, which were then raised to stabilize the floor system above.

Old Wood Posts

The support columns in the basement were large wooden posts. These needed to be replaced with SmartJacks.

SmartJack System

View of the installation upon completion. The concrete still needs to dry and cure, but the SmartJacks are fully installed.

SmartJack Base

The base plate of the SmartJack system is placed on a footing of engineered fill. If placed directly on the old concrete slab, the weight of the structure above would eventually start to crack the concrete.
