Foundation Problems Photo Album: Settling House Repair in Tilton, NH
A homeowner in Tilton, New Hampshire, who has resided in their house since its construction in 1969, has observed the house settling over the past two years, with the situation progressively worsening. The settlement had worsened to the point where the homeowner fears for the home's structural integrity. In search of a company to properly lift and stabilize the house, they contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions.
Our Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, recommended the installation of Push Piers to elevate and secure the settling foundation. Six push piers were implemented, each drilled into the ground until reaching stable soil. After installation, the piers are simultaneously pressurized to push into the stable soil, effectively lifting and stabilizing the foundation. Following a successful Push Pier installation, our team applied NexusPro to seal pre-existing cracks. This measure is taken to prevent the cracks from widening and to safeguard the structural integrity of the foundation wall.
Homeowners can now rest assured that their home is secure. Concerns such as cracks, doors and windows that stick, and collapsing walls have become issues of the past.
Foundation Wall Shearing
The wall had previously been treated for crack repair. Shearing, the term for this kind of wall crack, is a definitive indicator of a sinking foundation.
Outside Foundation Wall Crack
Another crack has been found on the exterior of the basement.
Foundation Access
Our installation team excavated beneath the foundation footing to create space for the installation of Push Piers.
Push Pier Installation
The Push Piers were drilled into the soil until they reached a depth where the strong soil prevented further penetration. These piers were then attached to the foundation's footing and simultaneously raised, effectively lifting the house above the voids beneath the foundation.
Crack Repair
With the foundation walls now stabilized, the next step was to repair the cracks. NexusPro was applied to seal the cracks, preventing further damage and enhancing the integrity of the foundation wall.
Outside Foundation Crack Repair
The crack on the exterior of the foundation was fixed using the same method.
Excavation Backfill
Following a successful installation, the crew backfills the excavated soil, ensuring the job site is left as tidy as possible!
