Foundation Problems Photo Album: Adding Supports and WaterProofing in Basement, Alton, NH
A homeowner in Alton, New Hampshire, has owned their home since 2007. Recently, they noticed that the supports in the basement didn't seem to be holding up the floor system well anymore. They contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions to inspect their basement. Our Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, met with the homeowner and inspected the entire basement to see if there were any additional issues. Jason proposed installing new supports, as he and the homeowner had discussed, but he also found a higher-than-recommended amount of moisture inside the basement. To control the moisture and water, Jason recommended installing a TripleSafe and a SandiDry Sedona Dehumidifier in the basement.
Our Installation Team, led by Eric Witham, began by setting up temporary posts around the basement so they could remove the old supports. Next, the team created three footings on the basement floor so they could install our big plate footings for our SmartJacks. Once the footings were installed, they set the SmartJack supports into the footing and attached our adjustable bracket and Supplement beam to support the floor system. After installing the SmartJacks, they began installing the TripleSafe in the lowest corner of the basement to collect water and pump it out before it entered the basement. After the sump was installed, they installed our SaniDry Sedona next to the sump. This will allow the dehumidifier to take moisture out of the air, and then the discharge line can feed right into the sump pump basin so the dehumidifier never has to be emptied.
The homeowner was very pleased with the results of the project. They no longer have to worry about the floor system or water entering their basement.
Before Sump Pump
Before we installed the sump pump and dehumidifier, the homeowners had a dehumidifier that needed to be emptied regularly.
TripleSafe and SaniDry Installed
The team installed our SaniDry and TripleSafe next to each other so the dehumidifier can discharge into the sump pump. The sump pump will then discharge the water outside the foundation.
SmartJacks Installed
We installed 3 SmartJacks with big plate footings and a supplemental beam.
