Foundation Problems Photo Album: Floor Sagging, Deering, NH
A resident of Deering, New Hampshire, had been living in their home for 26 years. During this time, they had carried out several renovations, including the addition of a new section. About a year ago, they were installing insulation in the crawlspace to help keep the floors warm when they discovered the main beam was sagging. Consequently, they contacted EFS to request a free inspection of the crawlspace. EFS Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, met with the homeowners and inspected the crawlspace. After the inspection, Jason recommended the installation of SmartJacks to eliminate the sag under the beam.
The EFS Installation Team began the project by digging down into the dirt floor to create footings for the SmartJacks. Jason suggested installing 13 SmartJacks, 70' of Supplemental Beam, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier in the basement. The team dug 13 footings to support the plates on the dirt floor, and then added engineered fill to the plates' resting place. Finally, they installed the SmartJacks and the Supplemental beam to eliminate the sag in the beam. The last item to install was the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, which will control the moisture in the crawlspace to prevent the growth of mold spores and reduce any unpleasant smells.
The homeowners were very pleased with the installation and expressed their intention to use the services of EFS in the future.
