Foundation Problems Photo Album: 1920s Home has Settling Floors, Shrewsbury, MA
The owner of an older home in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, has lived in their home only two years but in the initial home inspection when they purchased the home told them they should consider replacing the supports in the basement. 2 years later the homeowner decided now was the time to address it. They called EFS for a free inspection of their basement and the supports that hold up their floor system. Our Design Specialist Keith Soper met with the homeowner and inspected the supports in the basement and recommended installing 7 SmartJacks into the basement to replace the original supports.
Our Installation Team led by Eric Witham began by marking where each of the 7 SmartJacks will be installed. The team set up temporary supports around the basement before removing the old supports. The team then chipped out concrete to install our footings below the slab. The team made sure to level the footings before cutting the galvanized steel supports to the correct size in order to fit our adjustable bracket and secure it to the floor system. After the SmartJacks were installed and the adjustable top was tightened the team then mixed up concrete and poured the concrete over the footings to lock the SmartJacks into place.
