Foundation Problems Photo Album: Porch Floors Were Sagging, Arlington, MA
A homeowner lives in an older home on a side street in Arlington, Massachusetts, they recently have been dealing with the floor of their front porch sagging. They have seen the problem get a little worse over time and wanted to find a solution to the problem. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Liam FitzPatrick met with the homeowner and inspected the porch. During his inspection of the porch, he found that the supports around the porch were sinking slightly but he was mostly concerned about the lack of a middle support. Liam finished his inspection and recommended replacing the lally column supports and recommended installed Helical Piers with porch brackets.
Our Installation Team led by Edward N. began by removing one of the walls of the underside of the porch to gain access to the supports. The team then set up the temporary post so we could remove the old lally columns and install our new Helical Piers with porch brackets. To install the Helical Piers we used our hydraulic drive head attached to the excavator to drive our piers into the ground and create a surface that will stabilize the porch. Once all three of the piers were pressurized to the correct PSI the team then attached our porch brackets. After the brackets were installed the team then cut 6x6 PT to bridge from the porch bracket to the bottom of the porch.
