Foundation Problems Photo Album: Concerns with Main Beam and Water in Basement, Rockport, MA
A homeowner in Rockport, Massachusetts, purchased a home built in the 1960s. They have concerns with the main beam in the basement and the old sump pump. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Keith visited the home and examined the homeowners' concerns and recommended installing SmartJack under the main beam and replacing their existing sump pump with our TripleSafe.
Our Installation Team began by replacing the old sump pump with the bigger and better TripleSafe and plumbing the system to the exterior of the home and installing an IceGuard and 10' Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the home. After the team installed a new sump pump, they then moved on to installing the 6 SmartJacks under the main beam. To install the SmartJacks the team first chips out concrete and removed the debris and dirt so we could install some engineered fill and then install our footing. We then installed all of the SmartJacks to the footings and the beam and then begin tightening the adjustable top to stabilize the beam. After everything was set up the team then mixed up concrete and covered the bottom of the SmartJacks and around the TripleSafe to keep them in place.
