Foundation Problems Photo Album: Window Sticking on Covered Porch, Londonderry, NH
A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for 26 years. About 15 years ago they built a covered porch and attached it to the back of their home. for about 13 years they didn't have any issues with the porch, until one spring 2 years ago they were opening the windows on a nice day and they found some of the windows were sticking and difficult to open. Now a year and a half later the homeowner has seen the issue get slightly worse and doesn't want to have any of the windows break so the homeowner reached out to EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Tom inspected the porch and recommended installing 5 Helical Piers under the porch to add supports that will not sink.
Our installation team began by setting up temporary supports under the porch so we could remove the old sinking supports. Once the old supports were removed the team brought in our excavator with a hydraulic drive head attachment. The drive head will allow us to drive our helical piers under the porch until they reached 2200 psi. The team found that the piers reached 2200 psi when they were 12ft below the ground. Once the 5 Helical Piers were installed the team then installed our porch bracket and began to fit a 6x6 post to the bracket and then to the bottom of the porch. The team makes sure the posts were vertical and secured with long screws. After the piers and posts were secured to the porch the team then removed the temporary supports and the job was complete.
