Foundation Problems Photo Album: Cracked Support Beam, Medford, MA
A homeowner in Medford, Massachusetts, had lived in their home for the past 3 years, and ever since they moved in they were remodeling the home. The home was built in the early 1900s and the homeowners noticed during their remodeling that there was a crack in each of the beams of the basement. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Kenny recommended installing 2 SmartJacks into the basement to add support to the cracked beams in the basement.
Our installation team began by marking where each of the SmartJacks will be installed. After, the team then chipped out concrete so we could install our big footings flush under the concrete slab. Once the concrete was removed, the team then placed the footing beneath the concrete and leveled it. After the footings were leveled, the team then installed the SmartJacks to the beams and used the adjustable top to add support to them. Before pouring concrete over the footings of the SmartJacks, the team made sure the SmartJacks were level.
