Foundation Problems Photo Album: Geolocks Used to Stabilize Retaining Wall, Manchester, NH
A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire, had lived in their early 1900s home for the past 2 years and had noticed a large crack in the retaining wall on the side of their home. The retaining wall had two Air Conditioning units on top of it. They have seen the crack get larger over the past 2 years so they decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their retaining wall. Our Design Specialist Jason recommended installing 3 Geolock Wall Anchors to the retaining wall to prevent further movement of the wall.
Our team arrived at the home and first began by greeting the homeowner and explaining the plans for each day. Next, the team unloaded the truck and began marking where each of the 3 Geolocks will be installed. The team then used a coring drill to make small in the retaining wall so we could install our galvanized rod through the soil. The team then had to dig holes from the top of the retaining wall to install the Geolocks into the soil. After the Geolocks were installed in the soil the team installed the other Geolock to the opposite end of the galvanized rod and placed it against the retaining wall. After both ends were secured the team began tightening the Geolocks until the team noticed the wall being pulled inward and the crack started to get smaller. After the wall was stabilized and the crack was made smaller the team then made sure to clean up the job site and leave it cleaner than the team found it.
