Foundation Problems Photo Album: Sagging Floors in 1950s Home, Litchfield, NH
A homeowner in Litchfield, New Hampshire, had lived in their 1950s home since 2018. They had installed new hardwood flooring on the main level of the house and noticed that it was difficult to install a few sections of the floors because of the sagging of the floor system. The homeowner wanted to find a company that can lift, level, and stabilizes their floors. They found Erickson Foundation Solution and reached out for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Isaac examined the floor system from the main level and the basement and found that some termite damage has caused some of the sagging in the floor system. Isaac recommended installing 3 SmartJacks into the basement to lift, level, and stabilize the floors on the main level of the home.
Our production team began by marking where each SmartJack will be installed under each beam. The team then chipped out sections of concrete under each marker and created a footing under the concrete for each SmartJack. They installed our big footings under the concrete and leveled them before installing the SJ to the floor system above. On two of the SmartJacks, the team used a supplemental beam to bridge them and capture the portion of the floor system that was sagging the most. Once the team installed all three of the SmartJacks the last step was to double-check that the SJs were level and then encapsulate the footings in concrete to lock them in place.
