Foundation Problems Photo Album: Remodeling Home Need to Stabilize Floors, Amherst, NH
A homeowner in Amherst, New Hampshire, was remodeling their home that was built in the 1700s. The homeowners were concerned with the strength and stability of their floors. The homeowner called Erickson Foundation Solutions and our design specialist recommended installing SmartJacks into the half concrete floor and half dirt floor basement.
Our production team installed 12 SmartJacks into the dirt and concrete floor basement. The SmartJacks were installed slightly different depending if they were installed on exposed dirt or over a concrete basement floor. Some of the SmartJacks were installed on dirt so the team needed to make the dirt was level and then laid some engineered fill on the dirt before setting the big plate for the SJ. When we installed the SmartJacks on the concrete side of the basement, the team chipped out the concrete where the footing will be placed. After the concrete is chipped to the size of the footings the team dug down so they could make a concrete base that the footing can rest on. The mixture the team used to make the base is engineered fill and concrete poured into the hole lined with rebar. After the base was set the team installed the footing and secured the SmartJack to the beam above. Once everything was secured the team poured concrete over the footing to lock the SJ in place and eliminated any tripping hazard.
