Foundation Problems Photo Album: Support Main Floor, Exeter, NH
A homeowner in Exeter, New Hampshire, moved into their early 1900s home 4 years ago. After move-in, they installed some upgrades to the main floor. The homeowners at one point realized how much weight they added to the main floor and were concerned about if the floor system could support the weight. Our design specialist recommended installing SmartJacks to the main beam.
Our production team installed 3 SmartJacks into the basement. Our team first started by chipping out three sections of concrete, one for each SmartJack. The team removed concrete until they reached dirt, once they reach dirt the team shoveled out dirt so they can pour concrete for a new base for the SmartJacks. After the base was cured, the team sets each SmartJack on the base and attached them to the main beam. Lastly, the team poured concrete over the base of the SmartJacks to lock them in. Two SmartJacks are replacing two lally columns and the other SmartJack was installed under the stairs in the basement. The SmartJacks added support to the main beam so the homeowners don't have to worry about the floor system anymore.

The SmartJacks have an adjustable top. This top allows us to raise or lower the beam if a situation calls for it.
