Foundation Problems Photo Album: Wooden Supports to be Replaced, Lowell, MA
A homeowner in Lowell, Massachusetts, had an issue where the foundation was shifting. The home was built in the 1920s, and the homeowners have lived here for the past four years. Since they moved in the homeowners noticed doors and windows were tight. The supports in the basement are tree limbs. Our design specialist Kenny recommended replacing the supports in the basement with lally columns.
Our production team replaced the old wooden supports with lally columns. The team chipped out concrete for five lally columns to be installed. They poured a blend of engineered fill and concrete into a hole they made to create a solid base for the columns to sit on. Once the concrete blend is cured the team set the lally on it and secured the lally to the beam above. After the beam is secured the team casts the bottom of the lally in concrete to prevent it from moving.
