Sinking Concrete Piers
View of the concrete piers under the bump out addition. There are shims under the main beam, but the piers continued to sink and cause issues.
Shims Under Beam
Another view of the shims under the beam. The concrete pillars supporting the beam were both sinking due to unstable soils.
EZ Post Installation
Installed on a slight angle, we were able to straighten out the post once it was beneath the addition. Minimal digging required and no messy concrete needed.
EZ Post Installed
View of the EZ Post installed under the bump out addition. We were even able to install the post near some water sprinkler lines without having to relocate the lines.
EZ Post with Caps
View from the other side - EZ Posts installed under both corners of the addition and given caps to hold a PT beam.
EZ Posts and Beam Installed
3 pieces of 2" x 10" PT make up the new beam on top of the EZ Posts. All screwed together and supported by the posts, this home addition was lifted up more than an inch and will not settle again.
Raising a Settling Addition
View of the addition which was settling. Notice the bottom left and right corners, you can see the new EZ Posts installed along with a new beam. To complete the job there was minimal digging involved, and so little disruption to the surrounding environment.
