Despite facing a challenging corner piece of the slab that slightly resisted our lifting efforts due to the pool house's direct construction upon it, we modified our approach. The owner of a multi-family home located in Dedham, Massachusetts is an elderly woman in her 80s. Her son manages the property and lives on the main floor while some tenants reside on the floors above. The house has been in their family for over 40 years and was built in the early 1900s. A few years ago, the son noticed that the floor system was separating from the wall. In response, they contacted EFS and requested a free inspection of the property. Our Design Specialist, John Prince, met with the son of the owner and examined the floor system of the house. After John's inspection, he concluded that the floor system was weak and required additional support. He suggested the installation of 7 SmartJacks to stabilize the floor system. Our Installation Team, led by Neal Foley, began by setting up temporary posts and removing the existing supports that had caused the floor system to become unreliable. After the temporary posts were set up, the team chipped out small sections of concrete to create footings. Once the concrete had cured, our team installed the SmartJacks over the concrete and fastened them to the floor system using a U bracket. This allowed us to lift and level the floor system. Finally, the team poured concrete over the footings to lock them in place.

The homeowners were thrilled with the results of the project. They no longer have to worry about the stability of the floor system in their early 1900s home.
