Crawl Space Vent
The crawl space vent was the only access point to the crawl space, but it was too small for a person to enter. Vents in crawl spaces are an older logic in crawl space design. Instead, crawl spaces should be treated as integral parts of the home. To ensure warmth and quality air, the homeowner sought a long-lasting solution. Modern methods for insulating and encapsulating crawl spaces include using vapor barriers and dehumidifiers. These innovative techniques help keep the space warm and moisture-free, improving overall home comfort and air quality.

Crawl Space Access
Access to the crawl space is crucial for homeowners. Our crew created an entrance, and as shown in the photo, the insulation was falling out of the joists. This issue was causing the homeowner to experience colder and draftier rooms.

Crawl Space Vent Cover
To prevent cold air and moisture from entering the crawl space, we sealed the vent. Also shown in the photo is a piece of our drainage matting. We installed drainage matting on the crawl space floor. This matting creates a barrier between the earth and the home. If water seeps through the soil, the drainage matting distributes it, preventing pooling and ensuring more effective drainage.

Crawl Space Insulation and Encapsulation
After installing drainage matting, we added TerraBlock for crawl space floor insulation and encapsulation. We also applied SilverGlo to the crawl space walls to retain warm air and block cold air, enhancing energy efficiency. To complete the repair, we installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier, which fully encapsulates the crawl space and prevents moisture entry. This results in a warmer home with improved air quality, while also preventing mold, pests, and wood rot.

Crawl Space Door
The final touch was installing the EverLast Crawl Space Door, which provides easy access to the crawl space while effectively sealing it off from the outside world.
