Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Forever Home has a Damp and Smelly Crawlspace, Salisbury, MA
A homeowner in Salisbury, Massachusetts, has lived in their home for 30+ years and plans to live here for the rest of their lives. Over the past 30 years, they have always noticed a damp smell from the crawlspace. This year in particular they have noticed the smell has gotten worse. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection of their crawlspace. Our Design Specialist Kenny Calabrese met with the homeowner and inspected the crawlspace. After Kenny's inspection, he found that there was a high amount of moisture in the crawlspace and they should try to reduce it to eliminate the smell but also prevent mold spores from growing in the crawlspace. Kenny recommended encapsulating the crawlspace with CleanSpace and installing SaniDry Sedona to lower the moisture levels in the crawlspace.
Our Installation Team led by Anthony Locascio began by removing debris from the crawlspace so we could easily encapsulate the crawlspace. After we removed the debris, the team started to lay CleanSpace over the floors and walls. We used high-strength adhesive tape to combine sheets of CleanSpace together to encapsulate the entire crawlspace. Once the crawlspace was encapsulated, the team then installed our SaniDry Sedona into the crawlspace to control the moisture levels. The homeowner can set the dehumidifier to whatever but to prevent mold growth we recommend keeping the relative humidity below 60%.
The homeowner was blown away by the night and day difference in the look and smell of the crawlspace.
