Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Previous Contractors Repair Failed to Eliminate Sagging in Crawlspace, Tilton, NH
A homeowner in Tilton, New Hampshire, had an issue in the home where the floors on the main level of their home were sagging. They had a previous contractor attempt to fix the sagging but their solution didn't work. The contractor attempted to use concrete sonotubes to create a footing for their supports. Once the previous contractor installed their supports to the beams, it didn't take long for the supports to sink. The homeowners knew they had to find another company to find a solution for their floors. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Chris Greenwood recommended installing SmartJacks under a couple of the support beams in the crawlspace.
Our production team began by removing the supports that were installed by the other contractors. After the old supports were removed the team then began setting up to install our SmartJacks. First, the team created a flat surface that our SJ footings will rest on. Once the team installed each footing and made sure they were leveled and then installed the supports and the top brackets. Once all connected the team attached the top brackets to the main beam above. The team installed 5 SmartJack under 3 different support beams in the crawlspace. Once all of the SmartJacks were installed to the beams the team proceeded to tighten the adjustable top bracket to lift and level the floor above.
Crawlspace Before
The team removed the supports installed by the other contractor and any other debris that would impede them.
SmartJacks Installed
The team first installed our big plate footings, then cut our SmartJack to the correct height, then installed SJ and the adjustable bracket to the support beam. Once secured the team then would be able to tighten or loosen the bracket to lift or lower the beam above.
All SmartJacks Installed
The team installed 15 SmartJacks to three beams. 5 SJs were installed on each beam and they were individually lifted to eliminate the sag in the main level of the home.
