This homeowner in Mansfield, MA had a concrete driveway that wrapped around the corner of the house and extended into a patio behind the home. The concrete was sunken and uneven in various places throughout the surface, and also had all of it's expansion joints unsealed and exposed. The last thing the homeowner wanted to do was tear out and replace all the concrete, and so he contacted our Erickson team to see if we had a solution.
Our specialists proposed and installed a 2-part concrete protection system to fix the driveway and patio. The first step involved injection of PolyLevel through tiny portholes in the concrete surface. As the polymer material filled the voids underneath, it expanded into a foam which simply lifted the concrete as needed to level out the slabs on the surface. In other sections where no lift was required, PolyLevel was injected to fill any possible voids to ensure that no settlement would occur in the future by properly stabilizing the concrete now.
The last step involved sealing all the expansion joints throughout the entire driveway and patio. When these joints are open to rain flow, this allows water to flow into the soil beneath the slabs, which eventually leads to settlement and broken concrete. By sealing the joints, the concrete is protected for years to come.
The homeowner was pleased with the results, and saved thousands of dollars by not having to replace all the uneven concrete that was fixed with PolyLevel.
