Concrete Leveling Photo Album: Leveling Concrete Walkway, North Andover, MA
This homeowner in North Andover, MA was concerned with their uneven and settling concrete walkway at the front of their home. At the bottom of the steps where the brick met the concrete, the settlement was causing a large puddle to form every time it rained or when snow melted. This meant people had to take a large step or jump to reach the stairs. Further down the walkway, there was also a section of concrete which had settled up to an inch, creating a huge trip hazard. Between the two concerns, the main entrance to the home was unsafe for family and friends visiting their home.
Our concrete repair team was able to fix all the issues with the stairs and walkway in a single day, without having to tear out or replace any of the concrete. To get started, they first used a couple slab jacks on either side of the slab at the base of the stairs. The goal here was to lift the concrete up an inch or more back to its original height. This would eliminate the puddling and make the height of the first step safer. Once the slab jacks lifted the concrete to the desired height, PolyLevel was injected to fill the voids beneath, effectively stabilizing the walkway and preventing it from settling again. The results here were perfect and achieved exactly what was desired by the homeowner.
Our team then injected PolyLevel beneath the concrete section which had created a trip hazard further down the walkway away from the stairs. This section also came right up and the trip hazard disappeared. Once the lifting and stabilizing procedure was completed, the joints between the slabs were then sealed with NexusPro, which will prevent rain water from flowing between and beneath the slabs, adding a further level of protection against future settlement concerns.
With all the repairs completed, the homeowner was thrilled to have a safe walkway and entrance to their home once again!
Slab Jacking Process
Without damaging the surface of the concrete, our team lifted the sunken slab at the bottom of the steps with slab jacks. Once in place, the void beneath was filled with PolyLevel, permanently stabilizing the concrete.
