A homeowner in Middleton, New Hampshire, has owned their home for the past three years and is planning to finish their basement. To ensure proper support, they contacted EFS, and our Design Specialist, Jared Pavluvcik, inspected the existing supports. Jared determined that three SmartJacks needed to be installed, two to support a beam where a wall was knocked down and the third to replace an existing lally column.
Our installation team, led by Eric Witham, began by chipping out concrete from the basement slab to install footings below the slab. Then, they attached the supports to the beam above and used an adjustable top bracket to lift the beam and ensure it was level. Next, the team removed the lally column, replaced it with a SmartJack, and set up a temporary post.
With the three SmartJacks installed, the homeowners were now confident to finish the area.
