Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Wall Stabilization and Waterproofing, Manchester, NH
These homeowner had just purchased and moved into this home in Manchester, NH and were planning on finishing the basement area. However, before they could consider investing money into finishing the space, they needed to address two concerns in the basement.
First, the cinder block foundation walls were uneven and bowing inwards in several locations. As water built up in the soil on the exterior of the wall, the pressure and weight eventually caused the concrete bricks to move and bow in. The second concern was the same water problem that was pushing the wall. The water was also entering the basement, leaving moisture on the floor and walls, and humidity in the air. It would be impossible for them to make this a livable space in their home without first addressing the water and wall support issues.
Our Erickson team designed and proposed permanent solutions for both concerns. To stabilize the bowing foundation walls, our crews first installed PowerBrace wall supports, which were anchored to both the floor joist system above and the concrete floor below. With these steel supports spaced four feet apart along the length of the bowing wall, the cinder blocks are now fully stabilized and held in place, no longer able to bow in any further into the basement.
To provide permanent protection against water and moisture in the basement, our team installed a full perimeter drainage system tying directly into a TripleSafe sump pump. The pump is complete with a battery back-up power source, ensuring the basement will not floor even during power outages that may effect the home. To help control the humidity levels and improve the air quality in the home, the homeowner also purchased our SaniDry dehumidifier unit.
The entire system is maintenance free for the homeowner and combined with our annual maintenance program. These homeowners now have peace of mind in their new home, and have the confidence to finish their basement knowing it will stay dry and be protected for years to come.
Basement Perimeter Drainage
The crew removes concrete from the base of the foundation walls to install the perimeter drainage channels. The basement and work area is completely cleaned of all the debris before they move on to the next phase of the repairs.
High Water Levels in Basement
While the team was installing the TripleSafe sump pump basin, it was evident how water was a concern for the homeowner. The hole kept filling up during installation. The crew makes sure the pump is activated and working as they continue with the rest of the project details.
Failing Sump Pump System
The homeowner bought the house, which included this failing waterproofing system. The existing sump was not effectively catching and removing all the water entering the basement. The dehumidifier was also not able to keep up with the levels of moisture and humidity in the basement. Both of these items were replaced and upgraded by our Erickson team to a more permanent solution.
