Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Basement has Water Seepage and Smells Bad, East Kingston, NH
A homeowner in East Kingston, New Hampshire built their home in 1971. In 1973, they noticed small amounts of water entering the basement. The water didn't cause any damage, but its odor has gotten stronger over the years. Now, after 50 years, the homeowner is tired of the water and odor and wants to increase their home's resale value. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist, Anthony Brancato, met with the homeowners and talked to them about their goals. After their initial conversation, Anthony inspected the basement to find where the water and odor were originating from. At the conclusion of Anthony's inspection, he proposed a solution to the homeowners to eliminate the odor and protect the basement from water penetration. He recommended installing WaterGuard, TripleSafe, IceGuard, Exterior Drainage Line, and a SaniDry Sedona in the basement.
Our installation team, led by Gunther Billhardt, began by making sure everything inside the basement was removed from against the foundation walls. After everything was removed, the team started chipping out 106 feet of concrete around the perimeter of the basement to install our perimeter drainage and sump pump below the slab. After the concrete was jackhammered out and the debris was removed, we started to lay our WaterGuard and TrenchDrain into the trench. The team linked the drainage together and guided it where we installed the TripleSafe sump pump. After the sump pump was installed, and all the drainage was linked, we then plumbed the pump to the exterior of the home. Once the plumbing for the sump pump was outside, we installed our IceGuard and our Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the foundation. After the drainage was installed and buried in the yard, the team went back into the basement to cover the perimeter drainage system with concrete to lock it into place. The last item for our team to install was our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This was installed next to our sump pump and will take moisture out of the air and discharge that water into the sump pump basin so it can be pumped out with the other water.
The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project. They feel that this system will add value to their home and also protect the basement from smelling and flooding.
Basement was Wet and Smelly
The owners of this home have seen small amounts of water in the basement for about 50 years. The smell has gotten bad so they reached out to EFS for a free inspection.
Old Sump Pump
The pump wasn't keeping the water out of the basement.
TripleSafe and SaniDry Sedona Installed
The team installed a bigger and better sump pump and paired it with a high-strength dehumidifier to control the humidity and smell of the basement.
Perimeter Drainage
The team installed over 100 feet of WaterGuard and TrenchDrain into the basement to collect any water that threatens the basement.
Exterior Drainage
We installed 2 IceGuard and a 10' buried drainage line to carry water away from the foundation so water cannot re-enter the basement.
