A homeowner in Derry, New Hampshire, has owned their home for 8 years but just moved back into the home after their daughter was primarily living there. Now that they were living in the home again they noticed that their bulkhead had allowed water to enter the basement and collect in small amounts on the floor. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement and bulkhead to fully understand if it was just the bulkhead or if there was a greater issue. Our Design Specialist Bryan Barnard met with the homeowners and inspected the bulkhead and the basement. During his inspection, Bryan found the area where the bulkhead was leaking and confirmed that only the bulkhead was leaking. After his inspection, he recommended installing a new bulkhead door to replace the old one. Before leaving the home Bryan measured the size of the existing bulkhead so we can order a new bulkhead door for them.
Our Installation Team led by Robert Labrie and Branden Edwards began by removing the old bulkhead door. Once removed, the team began to install the new bulkhead door. While installing the new bulkhead, the team made sure to seal all of the edges to make sure water cannot leak into the basement.
Old Leaky Bulkhead
The old bulkhead had been allowing water to collect on the floor in the basement.
Bulkhead Open
The water that was leaking into the basement was entering by traveling down the stairs and sidewall of the bulkhead and traveling under the interior door and onto the floor.
New Bulkhead Installed
The team installed the new bulkhead.
Bulkhead Fully Installed
The team made sure to seal all of the gaps to ensure water cannot seep into the basement.
