Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Unwanted Water was Entering the Basement, Westford, MA
This homeowner in Westford, Massachusetts, owns a home that was built in the 1930s and has water that occasionally collects on the floor in the basement. The basement has a sump pump installed but cannot keep up with influxes of water. The homeowners wanted to stop the water from collecting in the basement, so they contacted EFS for a free basement inspection. Our Design Specialist Liam met with the homeowner and recommended installing a complete perimeter drainage system and an upgraded sump pump to prevent water from collecting on the floor of the basement.
Our installation team began by chipping out around the perimeter of the basement and the old sump pump so we could start installing the perimeter drainage and the new TripleSafe. To install the WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement the team first laid the drainage system down in the trench and then poured a layer of crushed stone around the system. To install the bigger and better TripleSafe, the team had to increase the size of the hole that the old sump sat in. Once the hole was made to the correct size and the pump fit the team then dumped crushed stone around the edges of the sump pump. The team then linked the sump to the WaterGuard and then plumbed the entire system to the exterior of the home where the team installed an exterior drainage line that will carry water from the sump pump away from the home. After the system was plumbed and the system was tested the last part of the job was to pour concrete around the base of the TripleSafe and over the WaterGuard to lock everything in place.
