Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Leaking Cracks in Basement, Mont Vernon, NH
A homeowner in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, had built their home 10 years ago. Recently the homeowners have noticed 4 cracks in their foundation wall and water entering the basement from those cracks. They didn't want to have the problem to get any worse so they decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Victor recommended installing Crack Injection and FlexiSpan to seal the 4 cracks in the foundation. Victor recommended using Crack Injection on 3 of the smaller cracks and they using FlexiSpan on the larger crack.
Our team began by installing the crack injection to the 3 smallest cracks. The team began by setting our injection ports every foot or so along the crack so we could fully inject the crack with foam. But before we could inject the crack with foam we had to set the outer layer of the crack injection so the foam would inject into the crack and into the crack only. The team lined the crack with duct tape so that when we install our outer layer the lines will be straight. Once the outer layer was installed the team then used the injection port to send our injection foam to seal the crack. After all the ports were injected with foam the team removed the duct tape. The team moved on to installing the FlexiSpan on the other crack.
The team started by cleaning out the crack and then installed a membrane over the crack. The membrane will prevent water from entering the basement but will allow water to travel down the crack. After the membrane was secured and installed the team chipped out a section of concrete at the bottom of the crack to make a drain for the crack. The drain will collect any water from the crack and direct the water back away from the basement. Finally, the team poured new concrete over the drain and waited for it to cure.
