Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing the Basement of a 1920s Home, Lynn, MA
A homeowner in Lynn, Massachusetts, had recently retired which gave her more time for projects around the house. The home was built in 1928 and the homeowners have owned the home since 1990. When they purchased the home they noticed water entering the basement when it would rain a lot but didn't think it was worth fixing until now. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our design specialist examined the basement for where the water could be entering from. Our design specialist couldn't find just one entry point so they recommended installing a full perimeter drainage system.
Our production team began by chipping out the concrete along the perimeter of the basement so they can install the WaterGuard. The team installed 95' feet of WaterGuard and 23' of TrenchDrain to the perimeter of the basement. Next, the team installed the TripleSafe, and the sump pump was connected to the perimeter drainage system so any water that enters the perimeter drainage system will be sent to the TripleSafe. Once enough water enters the sump pump basin the pumps will turn on and send the water toward the exterior of the home. On the exterior of the home, the team installed an IceGuard to prevent water from freezing or clogging the drainage line. Without an IceGuard the system would be at risk of backing up into the basement if the drainage line had frozen or clogged. After the IceGuard the team installed a drainage line that was a minimum of 10' away from the home.
Basement Before
The homeowners have had water entering their basement since they purchased their homes 30 years ago.
WaterGuard and Trench Drain
The team chipped out the concrete around the perimeter of the basement and then laid WaterGuard and Trench Drain around the perimeter.
Concrete Used to Conceal the Drainage System
Concrete was used to cover the drainage system so that the homeowners wouldn't trip over it.
TripleSafe Installed
The team installed the TripleSafe basin and TripleSafe pump into the corner of the basement and then they concealed it with concrete to prevent a tripping hazard.
