Water Enters Basement and Crumbles Mortar, Manchester, NH
Challenge
This homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire had purchased her home about 2-3 years ago. During her pre-purchase inspection, the inspector told her about the possibility of water coming into the basement. Recently water has been entering the basement and chipping some of the mortar off the wall. The homeowner decided to call EFS and some other local contractors in her area. She decided to pick EFS because of the price, quality, and good personal skills.
Design Specialist Brian Swindell arrived at the home and inspected the basement. Brian found that a lot of the fieldstone foundations can be susceptible to leaking.
Solution
Design Specialist Brian Swindell recommended installing 101' of WaterGuard to the perimeter of the basement and connecting it to a sump pump, Brian also recommended having PolyLevel Wall Restoration spayed on the fieldstone foundation to seal any cracks.
Crew Lead Ed Nadreau and his team arrived at the home and began chipping out a path for the Water Guard. They inserted the Water Guard into the chipped-out section. A layer of crushed stone goes on top of the Water Guard and then concrete is poured on top of the crushed stone. At a predetermined spot, a sump pump is installed where the Water Guard can drain into. After the Water Guard and the sump pump are installed, another EFS crew arrived at the home to install the PolyLevel Wall Restoration. Crew Lead Nick Melo and his team arrived at the home and began installing the PolyLevel Wall Restoration. They sprayed the entire wall to ensure that water can't enter through the wall anymore.
