Job Stories From Barrington, NH
Preparing to Refinish Basement in Barrington, NH

When a homeowner from Barrington, NH, contacted us due to water leaking into their basement with plans to partially refinish the area, we knew we had to provide a solution that not only addressed the immediate issue but also ensured a dry, usable space for years to come. Our commitment at Erickson Foundation Solutions is to transform worries about basement leaks into peace of mind, through a blend of advanced technology and exceptional service.

Upon reaching out, our dedicated Customer Care team quickly scheduled a home inspection to assess the cause of water entry. One of our experienced System Design Specialists, Debra Rayborn, visited the homeowner’s residence, conducted a thorough inspection, and presented a custom solution tailored to their needs. The diagnosis: the basement needed not just a fix, but a comprehensive waterproofing system to prevent future leaks. To achieve this, we installed WaterGuard, a tried and tested interior drainage channel, coupled with the TripleSafe Sump Pump system, including an IceGuard attachment to guard against freezing. This combination was chosen not just for its reliability but also for its minimal maintenance requirements and efficient operation. The installation commenced with our skilled team getting to work efficiently, making sure that every component was perfectly in place. From laying down the WaterGuard at the basement’s periphery to strategically installing the TripleSafe Sump Pump, every step was meticulously executed ensuring the basement would remain dry. By installing the IceGuard, we also made the system foolproof against chilling winters, combatting the challenge of frozen discharge lines.

After the works were done, we conducted a comprehensive clean-up, leaving the basement ready for its next phase of transformation. The homeowner was thrilled with the outcome - a dry basement ready for partial refinishing, free from the previous concerns of water damage or mold due to moisture.

Waterproofing a Leaky Bulkhead in Barrington, NH

Over in Barrington, NH, a homeowner reached out with a frustrating issue – water was sneaking into their basement through the bulkhead entrance every time it rained hard, leaving a mess and ruining items they had stored there. Fed up and seeking a permanent fix, they turned to us, Erickson Foundation Solutions, hoping we'd have the answer to their soggy problem.

Our process kicked off with a homeowner calling our welcoming Customer Care team. We promptly set up an inspection where one of our experienced System Design Specialists Jason Vachon made a visit, diagnosing the root of the water intrusion. We recommended installing WaterGuard, an efficient interior perimeter drainage system designed to catch basement water and route it away, keeping the space dry. Our solution was designed to tie seamlessly into their existing sump pump, ensuring the basement remained water-free, without the need for a completely new setup. Our foreman Gunther Billhardt and skilled installers soon arrived on the scene, gearing up to turn our plan into action. They worked diligently, installing WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement with minimal invasion into the homeowner's day-to-day life. The team made sure everything was clean and in order before declaring the job completed.

And just like that, the homeowner waved goodbye to their water worries. With our installation successfully diverting unwanted moisture, those stored items – and any new additions to the basement – were now safe and sound. Beyond solving the problem at hand, we left our homeowner with the peace of mind that comes from a long-lasting, reliable foundation solution.

Water Entering Basement through Bulkhead, Barrington, NH

The owner of a home in Barrington, New Hampshire has lived in their home for the past 20+ years. Over those 20+ years, they have noticed water entering the basement through the bulkhead. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection of the bulkhead and basement. Our Design Specialist Victor Tapia met with the homeowners and talked about their concerns. After talking about the water leaking into their basement from the bulkhead, Victor inspected the bulkhead and basement to find a solution. After his inspection, he recommended replacing the old bulkhead with a new one.

Our installation team led by Eric Witham began by removing the old bulkhead from the home. The team then cleaned up the loose concrete and then installed the new bulkhead. This new bulkhead has preventative measures to stop water from seeping into the basement.

After the installation was complete the homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project.

Sump Pump Couldn't Keep Basement Dry, Barrington, NH

A homeowner residing in Barrington, New Hampshire had been living in their house for two decades when they noticed water seeping into their basement. In 2010, they installed a sump pump to keep the basement dry. The pump functioned properly for almost 13 years until water started to seep through the slab on the other side of the basement. The homeowner contacted EFS to request a free inspection of the basement. Our Design Specialist, Tom Armano, inspected the basement and recommended the installation of a Feed Line to collect water from the opposite end of the basement.

Dillon Kingsbury and his Installation Team started the installation process by chipping out concrete 24 feet across the basement to allow for the installation of the Feed Line. The team connected the Feed Line to the sump pump in the trench and installed a WaterGuard Port on the other end to facilitate the cleaning of the system. After the installation was complete, the team mixed up concrete and covered the line. The homeowner was extremely satisfied with the outcome of the project and was relieved that water seepage into their basement was no longer a concern.

Detached Garage Has Foundation Issues, Barrington, NH

A homeowner in Barrington, New Hampshire, had a detached garage that had some cracks in the foundation. The homeowner wanted to install a jacuzzi on the second floor of the garage but they were worried about the strength of the foundation and wanted to address some water concerns in the basement of their home. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection. Our design specialist Brian recommended several of our products to address all of the issues in their garage and basement. The products that Brian recommended using were PowerBraces, Geolocks, FlexiSpan, SmartJacks, NexusPro, UltraSump, and IceGuard.

Our team started by addressing the foundation walls. They began by installing 4 PowerBraces to the foundation wall in the garage. The PowerBraces works by using an L bracket mounted on the floor to brace the I beam against the wall. Then by using our system mounted in the rafters we applied outward pressure to stabilize the wall. After the PowerBraces were installed the team began installing the lone Geolock behind the staircase in the garage. The team started by digging a trench 10' away from the wall. The team then sends a rod through the foundation wall into the trench. On either end of the rod, the team attached Geolock Plates. After the plates were secured the team tightened the rod using a power drill. Once the plates were tightened the team backfilled the trench. Next, the team installed FlexiSpan on the wall to address some vertical cracks. The team chipped out some concrete at the bottom of the crack. This will create a path for the water to travel away from the home. After the concrete is chipped out, the team installed porous foam over the length of the crack and set it in place with an impermeable membrane that adhered to the wall. Following the team installing the Flexispan in the garage the team began installing the SmartJack. The SmartJack will add support to the floor when the homeowners install the jacuzzi on the second floor of the garage. The team started by chipping out some concrete where the SmartJack were going to be installed. The team dug down and filled the hole they dug with engineered fill and concrete to create stabile footing. The team waited for the concrete to cure. After the concrete was cured the team attached the SmartJack to the main beam and over the new concrete footing. After the SmartJack was secured the team covered the footing of the SmartJack with concrete to make sure it won't move. Following the installation of the SmartJacks the team moved into the basement to install some waterproofing.

The team installed FlexiSpan and NexusPro into the basement to seal up some cracks that are allowing water into the basement. Next, our team installed an Ultra Sump in the corner of the basement. Any water that entered the basement will be collected by the UltraSump. Attached to the drainage line out of the Ultra Sump is an IceGuard that will prevent water from freezing in the drainage line.

The homeowners are happy with the results of the project. They no longer have to worry about water in their basement and foundation concerns in their detached garage. Now they can install the jacuzzi on the second floor of their garage.

Sagging Floors, Barrington, NH

A homeowner in Barrington, New Hampshire, had an issue where the floors in their home were sagging in various areas. The supports in the basement were timber and allowed the floors to sag and slope. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

Our design specialist examined the floors and the supports and recommended installing SmartJacks with supplemental beams.

The crew installed 5 SmartJacks and 16 feet of supplemental beam.

Radon Mitigation, Barrington, NH

Homeowner James C. of Barrington was anxious to resolve his concerns with high radon levels in his home. He tested twice over the course of a year, and levels ranged between 5.8 and 13.8, well above the EPA's recommended level of 4.0 pci/l. James and his wife were planning to work from home more often, and so really wanted to improve the air quality where they would be spending the majority of their time. They received several quotes from contractors, and the most important factors to him were price, quality, and competency.

Design specialist Michael LaMalfa provided James with a thorough inspection and detailed proposal for the radon mitigation system his home needed to help lower the levels of radon. Ultimately, James chose our Erickson team to install the radon mitigation system his home needed.

The home had a large footprint and so required two extraction points in order to ensure the radon levels were properly lowered. Crew lead Scott Crandall and his team successfully installed the entire system in a single day, and James has had peace of mind knowing his radon levels are now safely below 4.0pci/l.

Sagging Floors, Barrington, NH

The homeowners of this 1985 home were seeing some 45 degree cracks in their second floor bedroom doors at the corners on both sides. There were some additional cracks in the closets and some nails popping in the stairwell. They were looking to get their home inspected to be sure they didn't have any serious foundation problems. One other thing to note is they two sump pumps, and fairly wet ground around the house which has been partially remediated but guttering and pouring a new basement floor in the addition portion of the house which was built in 1996. The homeowners were looking to renovate the upstairs but wanted to make sure they had no structural issues first.

Design specialist Brian Allen inspected the basement area of the home to determine why cracks were forming upstairs, and proposed the ideal solution for stabilizing the sinnking and settling areas of support. The lally columns under the main support beam in the home were gradually settling, and not providing the home with enough resistance and support. As the columns sank down, cracks in the drywall started appearing above in the home.

Our production team, led by Nick Carelli, installed several SmartJacks under the main support beam. The SmartJacks were placed over a secure footing of engineered fill to ensure they were properly supported for the weight of the home above. Additionally, they assisted the homeowner with better sealing the concrete around his existing sump pumps.

The with floor fully stabilized, the homeowners were able to begin their remodeling plans in their home.
