Photo Album: French Drain Added to Sump Pump in Peabody, MA

A homeowner in Peabody, Massachusetts had two sump pumps in her house, yet still experienced leaks and puddling on her foundation floor. Additional waterproofing needed to be installed to the basement in order to make sure it would stay permanently dry. She reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions. After one of our service technicians went out to the home to inspect a sump pump that we had previously installed, he recommended adding an interior drainage system to capture all the water from the high water table. This waterproofing system consists of WaterGuard perimeter drainage, TrenchDrain surface drainage, feed line, and replacing an existing sump pump with a Zoeller M98 sump pump. This system captures water along the interior of the foundation before it is exposed to the basement, filters it evenly to the two sump basins, and then pumps the water out of the home. This homeowner will no longer need to deal with the annoying cleanup process. She now has peace of mind that it will stay dry all the time.

WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage

WaterGuard is installed along the bottom of the foundation wall to capture water from the outside wet soil. It sits within crushed stone to ensure proper flow to the sump basin.

WaterGuard Fully Installed

Once the waterproofing system is fully installed, it is cemented in place.

Feed Line

A feed line is installed to ensure that water collected by the WaterGuard system is evenly distributed to the two sump pumps.

Surface Drainage in Front of Stairs

TrenchDrain is installed to reroute water in areas where WaterGuard is inaccessible. Trenchdrain was installed in front of the bulkhead staircase and connected to the WaterGuard system to continue the flow of water to the sump basin.

Surface Drainage Around Furnace

TrenchDrain was also installed to reroute water around the furnace.

Zoeller M98 Sump Pump in TripleSafe Liner

The Zoeller M98 pump can pump up to 3,900 gallons of water out of the house per hour. The pump was installed in the TripleSafe liner to protect against humidity and debris damaging it. The exterior drainage line was then installed to the pump, which guides water out of the home to the backyard, where water is then disposed of safely.
