Photo Album: Foundation Wall Stabilization in Reading, MA
A new homeowner in Reading, Massachusetts had structural concerns regarding her foundation. With a 1-year warranty on the house she just bought, she was eager to get an expert opinion on her foundation walls. Looking to take preventative measures before the foundation worsened, she reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.
After providing a free home inspection, our Design Specialist, Debra Rayborn, noticed that one foundation wall was shearing and slightly bowing inward. This caused for big concern, as these are clear signs of a foundation wall lacking structural support. Debra recommended installing our GeoLock wall anchoring system to stabilize the wall. This system consists of steel rods drilled through the foundation, anchoring into strong, durable soil. Steel plates are installed to the foundation wall, and the system is tightened, preventing further movement.
With the basement wall now stabilized, the rest of the home gets the proper support it needs.
Foundation Wall Shearing
A crack pattern like this indicates that the foundation wall is shearing. It signals that the foundation is at risk of becoming extremely damaged.
GeoLock Wall Anchors
The steel rod is drilled through the foundation and into the soil until it reaches the dug-up area of strong soil. Anchors are then attached to the rod.
GeoLock Steel Plates
The GeoLock steel plates are installed to the foundation wall. The anchoring system is then tightened to stabilize the wall.
GeoLock Backfill
After the anchoring system is in place, the installation crew backfills the area that was dug up.
