Photo Album: Basement Stabilization in Newbury, NH
A homeowner in Newbury, NH had basement walls bowing inwards which raised concern for the integrity of her home. Looking to solve the problem before matters get worse, she reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.
Our Design Specialist, Victor Tapia, recommended pouring a concrete basement footing and installing PowerBraces to it. Without a foundation footing, foundation walls are not properly supported, which has led to leaning, bowing, and cracking. After concrete was poured and dried, 12 PowerBraces were installed along the basement walls. These PowerBraces consist of steel I-beams that are secured to the joists above the wall with steel brackets. This system is easily adjustable, allowing for tightening of the brace to attempt to raise the wall back to its original position.
With the foundation walls now stabilized, support is extended throughout the entire home. The homeowner now has peace of mind that their foundation wall won't crumble in.
Basement Without Footing
The homeowner had cinderblocks around the perimeter of their basement as a DIY form of support for foundation walls. This unorthodox method was unable to provide the support needed, as the wall can be seen shearing and bowing inwards.
Preparing to Pour Footing
Our installation crew set up to ensure that a perfect concrete pour was made.
Footing Poured
The crew poured and leveled the concrete, making for an excellent basement footing.
PowerBrace Installation
PowerBraces were installed along the footing and connected to joists above. They are tightened to provide support and stabilization to the wall.
