Photo Album: SmartJacks to Stabilize Floor System, Manchester, NH
A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire purchased their 1950s home in 2022. They have become concerned with the floor system in the home. They called EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowners and examined the basement. Jason looked at the existing lally columns and supports to determine if other areas of the floor system should be supported. Jason recommended installing SmartJacks in the basement to support the floor system.
Our installation team began by removing chipping out concrete below where each support will be installed. The team utilized our big plate footings to use a large surface area to stabilize the floor system. Once the footing was installed and leveled we installed our SmartJack and Supplemental beam to bridge across the floor joist. This will allow us to support areas of the floors away from the main beam. The team checked that everything was level before using the adjustable top bracket to begin lifting the floors. After each bracket was tightened, the team made sure everything was leveled before setting the footings in concrete. The team waited for the concrete to cure and then re-checked the level on the supports before showing the project to the homeowner.
We did a final walkthrough with the homeowner to show them how and what we installed. The homeowners were very pleased with the project.
