Photo Album: Crawlspace Under Addition Causing an Odor, Stoneham, MA

A homeowner in Stoneham, Massachusetts, had an addition built onto their home. The addition has a crawlspace beneath it and the homeowner believes that the odor from the crawlspace penetrates the home. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their crawlspace. Our Design Specialist met with the homeowners and inspected the crawlspace. When in the crawlspace our specialist noticed that the vapor barrier had deteriorated and was allowing moisture to come into the crawlspace. We recommended installing CleanSpace, SilverGlo, and an Everlast Crawlspace Door to the crawlspace to prevent odors from collecting in the crawlspace and seeping into the home.  Our installation team began by removing all of the old vapor barriers and damaged lattice from the crawlspace so we could start installing our system. After the crawlspace was cleaned out the team began installing 200 sqft of CleanSpace into the crawlspace to cover the floor and walls. We secured the vapor barrier with our extremely strong tape-CleanSpace Tape. Next, we installed SilverGlo on the end of the crawlspace where the lattice was installed. The team made sure to seal around the edges of the SilverGlo with CleanSpace and caulking. This will close off that section of the crawlspace to prevent moisture from entering. Lastly, we replaced the old entrance door to the crawlspace with our Everlast Crawlspace Door. After the job was complete the team then showed the homeowner our work and answered any questions before we left.
