This homeowner in Merrimack, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for the past 8 years. About 6 years ago they noticed some cracks starting to form in their garage. Over the past couple of years, the cracks have gotten larger and have started to create concern for the homeowners. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Bryan Barnard met with the homeowner and inspected the cracks in the garage. He found that the cracks were caused by foundation movement. After he inspected the garage, Bryan recommended installing 5 Geolock Anchors to the garage foundation to protect it from further movement and cracking.
Our installation team began by marking where each of the 5 Geolock will be installed on the exterior of the garage. After marking we then measured 10 feet from that foundation wall into the garage slab to make a trench inside the garage. Next, our team dug down a couple of feet so we could install our Geolock plates. Then we sent a galvanized rod from the outside of the garage through the foundation and into the trench. Then the team used Geolock plates to secure each side of the rod and then tightened the rod to slowly use leverage to stabilize the foundation wall. After each rod was tightened the team then backfilled over the trench and repoured concrete to match the slab.
After everything was completed and the site was cleaned up the team showed the homeowner everything they installed and answered any questions from the homeowner.
